Capricorn Horoscope 2020

Green starry night sky for 2020 Capricorn horoscope

It's a new year, Capricorn! Happy 2020!

This is shaping up to be a major year for your sign, with big opportunities. Much of 2020 will focus on you and what's most important to you.

Other people will figure into your plans, perhaps in some surprising ways. Read on for your guide to 2020.

Personality, Pet Projects

So much of the astrology in recent years has had your name all over it. In 2008, Pluto entered Capricorn, bringing intensity and possibly even obsessiveness to your first house of self, personality, pet projects, and physical health. In late 2018, your ruling planet, Saturn, joined Pluto and will remain in Capricorn until mid-December this year (except for a short trip into Aquarius this year, from March to July). Although Saturn loves being back home in the sign it oversees, this planet can be stern and exacting, pushing you to work hard on yourself and the projects that matter most to you.

Pluto demands depth and total commitment, in part because of its association with the soul and its mandate to support our evolution. Saturn asks for hard work, both on the material plane to build your dreams in reality, with patience, and on the inner plane in order to overcome negative karma while learning how to create positive karma through service and patience. Together, their energies can feel heavy, and you may have noticed their draining effect in your health, making it urgent to care for yourself well so you're up to all that's asked of you at this time.

Jupiter joined the Capricorn pileup in December 2019. That's good news, because Jupiter brings a joyful, expansive energy to help balance Pluto and Saturn. Also, as 2020 begins, you have the Sun and Mercury in Capricorn, both of which will help you lighten up, feel more hopeful, and enjoy pleasures in addition to managing your workload. Tap your ideals - and your considerable sense of humor - to make "must do" tasks more meaningful and enjoyable.

Health, Work, Daily Routine

As if all that weren't enough, you've also experienced potent eclipse energies in Capricorn and Cancer. That's because the Moon's nodes, which are tied to the eclipses that occur every five and a half months, have been moving through Capricorn as well as Cancer, your seventh house of marriage and business partnerships. When eclipses happen in your first house and touch a sensitive point of your birth chart, they can have a dramatic impact in nearly every aspect of life, including personal identity and health, career, home and family, and marriage and other close relationships.

That's about to change: in May, the Moon's nodes will shift into Gemini and Sagittarius, your health houses, which also oversee your work environment, pets, and your daily routine, spirituality, and solitude. You could see big changes that bring closure to projects or relationships at the office or open new opportunities for attending to health or spending time by yourself for healing or communing with your soul. This trend will last about 18 months, so keep an eye out for changes in any of the areas of life mentioned here. Also, you could see unexpected help from someone behind the scenes.

Creative Projects, Children

Uranus in Taurus, which has an impact on your fifth house of creative projects and children, will remain in this sign for several more years. Taurus is an earth sign, like your Capricorn Sun sign, so it's in a great position to give you help with all the many doings in your first house, from key assignments to a personal makeover to fitness or health upgrades. You may have quirky brainstorms about an arts project, or one of your children may show exceptional talent in some area that sparks potential to collaborate with you on one of your favorite projects. This planetary placement also could bring someone unusual and highly creative into your life, attract a romantic partner, or alter how you spend leisure time.

When Life Will Slow Down

In addition to the usual yearly Mercury retrogrades, 2020 will see both Venus and Mars go retrograde. These two planets go retrograde the least often, so when they do, we generally feel their slowdowns strongly. In both cases, it's wise to give yourself a time out as much as possible, especially in the areas ruled by these planets and the signs they're in. Rather than plunging ahead, step back, take your time, and use this opportunity to rethink plans, projects, and relationships - and to reconnect with people from the past.

Venus will go retrograde in May and June in Gemini, which influences your sixth house of work and daily routine. As the love planet, Venus rules relationships as well as money, so your work relationships might feel less supportive, hiring may stall, or business finances could feel constrained. Mars will go retrograde from September through November in Aries, which influences your fourth house of home and family. If you're working on a real estate deal, fixing up your house, or need to help a parent or other relative, the project may hit a snag and need to stop for a while. You could feel frustrated, but it's best to go with the flow because pushing will make things worse and won't get you any farther (or any faster). Both these retrogrades are good opportunities to take a vacation.
