Balsamic Moon Phase Dates 2021

Super dark night sky with slim sliver of balsamic Moon and text: Balsamic Moon Phase: 2021 Dates, Times
Although it's not nearly as well known as its more famous sister Moon phases, the new and full Moon phases, the balsamic Moon phase is just as important. Find out why and get all the dates and exact times for the balsamic Moon periods in 2021 so you can start using this phase to your benefit.

Have you heard of the balsamic Moon?

It's perhaps the least known of the Moon's eight distinct phases each month, yet it's potentially the most important for balancing modern life's often hectic pace.

Balsamic Moon Phase

The balsamic Moon phase arrives at the tail end of the monthly lunar cycle.

Monthly Lunar Cycle: New Moon To Full Moon To Balsamic Moon

Each month, we have a new Moon, which begins a new lunar cycle. At first, we cannot see the new Moon in the night sky, but within about half a day it becomes visible as a slim crescent Moon.

After that, the Moon appears to grow and grow, eventually revealing all of herself as a round disk, fully illuminated as she reflects the Sun's light at the full Moon.

Following the full Moon, the lunar disk then appears to shrink, gradually shifting from a complete circle to a half circle, then a quarter circle, and finally a sliver of a crescent before disappearing entirely for about a day at the dark of the Moon before the next new Moon arrives.

The balsamic Moon is that final portion of the lunar cycle.

Balsamic Moon: When It Arrives

A balsamic Moon phase arrives when the Moon reaches 45 degrees of arc before the position of the Sun.

The Moon moves much faster than the Sun, and as she proceeds to catch up with the Sun (which brings the next new Moon), she gets slimmer and slimmer, showing less and less light.

How Long It Lasts

The balsamic Moon phase lasts about three and a half days.

How To Use The Balsamic Moon

As for how to use the balsamic Moon, this phase is the opposite of the new Moon because it's best for slowing down, stopping, and resting.

It's the time to give yourself a monthly break from outward striving and simply be, as much as possible.

To use this phase well, accept the need to stop pushing and go with the flow. Also, spend time meditating, journaling, and getting extra rest. The balsamic Moon phase's energies encourage us to become calm and tranquil as we reflect on the past lunar month, finish up last tasks for projects started at the prior new Moon, and prepare to receive a new burst of energy and enthusiasm once the balsamic Moon period concludes.

      1. Thank you, Anne. I just saw your comment here to my first question and very much appreciate you answering.
I will look forward to seeing it, and while I am aware -- as a Balsamic Moon Piscerian - cusper ! -- that the 3 days before the new moon is when I can go into my goddess world of reflection....It is still a comfort to know another 'goddess' of spirit has put the calendar together for me to use. Very Barbara Walker...what a spirit she was - her dictionaries and wise women mythology secrets are what I use for writing....and I put you up there with her work. Its important - more than ever after this ccovidiculous time on the planet, to be able to function just a few inches off the ground into the realm of magic in the cosmos. And, I'm a retired investigative journalist! Thank you again....<>

        1. Hello, Mar - aka Pansy! You're welcome. And thank you for adding your reflections here: how lovely of you to say that and put me in such company. I appreciate your kindness and how much my work and balsamic period mean to you. How interesting about your investigative journalist background: we've helped run a newspaper for nearly 40 years now (including plenty of investigating, writing, editing). Many adventures. Like you, having the magical and cosmic focus has become central to my work and life: needed "more than ever" as you said! Thanks again for getting in touch. Stay tuned: balsamic post coming this month!
