May Astrology – Headline News
Your Marriage, Business Partnerships, Agreements
As May begins, we have just one planet in Taurus, the warm and powerful Sun, who always shines his light freely and generously to bring joy and optimism to our world.
On May 13, Mercury will join the Sun in Taurus, followed by Uranus on May 15. These three will dominate Taurus until May 20, when the Sun changes signs.
Taurus is an earth sign symbolized by the Bull, a large and calm creature who is peacefully at home in nature until provoked or placed in unfamiliar or stressful surroundings. Then it shows its temper, becoming agitated or even aggressive and potentially dangerous. The Taurus Bull reminds us we need to take it easy at times, enjoy socializing, and spend time in nature. It also teaches how something new can create stress and how easily tempers can flare when people feel forced to change. For these reasons, Taurus inspires us to seek comfort, especially when under stress or going through a significant change so we can remain sweet-tempered.
Find out more about Taurus in my article, Taurus Time: Ground Yourself Even As The World Changes. Also, you can tune in to this sign’s calm contentment and deep loyalty with The Taurus Meditation, an uplifting guided meditation.
For you, Scorpio, planets in Taurus always activate your seventh house of committed partnerships and agreements such as through marriage or with a business advisor. The Taurus planets can help solidify your relationship with your marriage partner and other important people and make you more practical about how you interact with others and make agreements with them. They also may inspire you to create more peace and comfort with partners or even join together to work for causes related to peace because everyone’s partnership house is closely linked to these themes and because Venus-ruled Taurus loves nothing so much as peace, comfort, and the security and love that come from the stillness of art, nature, and right relations with others.
Your Joint Finances, Sexuality, And Spiritual Depth
On May 20, the Sun leaves Taurus for Gemini, which will start the month of the Twins. You’ll feel the energies shift away from the earthy, steady, loyal power of Taurus to the airy, playful, curious world of Gemini. This annual change brings a refreshing breeziness after Taurus and its tendency to stay home, sit still, and indulge its senses.
For you, Scorpio, planets in Gemini revitalize your money matters because they put airy chattiness and a desire to be on the go into your eighth house of shared resources through mortgages, loans, alimony and child support, insurance, credit cards, and joint venture capital as well as gifts, inheritances, and commissions. This area also governs your sexuality and deepest spiritual nature. As soon as the Sun enters Gemini, you may feel inspired to upgrade your financial life by speaking with your marriage and business partners about needed changes. You also may feel a strong need to explore your inner depths through psychic and mystical studies and to enjoy your sexuality more, especially as it relates to your soul and the deep communication and bond you can create when bodies and souls join together.
Jupiter In Scorpio: Halfway Point Review
Since October 10, 2017, Jupiter has been traveling through Scorpio.
Jupiter spends 13 months in each sign, giving us a special annual theme to help focus our attention. So we’re about halfway through this cycle, making this month a perfect time to look back on how we’re doing with our current Jupiter assignment.
As the biggest planet in our solar system, Jupiter is associated with abundance, affluence, and even extravagance. Wherever Jupiter is located, we find expansion, protection, nobility, and leadership. Often, these benefits come through Jupiter’s favorite subjects: foreign people and places, overseas travel, higher education, philosophy, and large scale media (such as publishing). All these expand our horizons and our consciousness.
In Scorpio, Jupiter is taking us deep within to heal and regenerate (or release) whatever must change. It’s also helping us explore secrets, hidden passions, and spirituality as well as see the global problems that need compassion and fixing.
How well are you doing in these areas? What remains for you to explore and improve? Are you blocking abundance or joy by being stingy or judgmental?
For you, Scorpio, this is a great time to embrace joy and optimism, improve and enjoy health, and examine your character and personality to ensure they reflect your highest ideals.

A New Era Arrives
After seven years in Aries, the Great Awakener, Uranus, moves into earthy Taurus on May 15.
This is a major change that signals a new era for all of us. Before May 15, be sure to look back at what’s happened in your life and the world since March 2011 to honor how far you’ve come since then. See your horoscope from last month in our horoscope archives for recommendations on how to put the Uranus in Aries era into perspective so you’ll be ready for the changes starting on May 15.
Uranus is associated with electricity, lightning, and wild weather as well as genius and brilliance that come as lightning flashes of inspiration. It also brings a powerfully disruptive or even rebellious energy designed to help us change—and fast—as well as free ourselves and others and let go of the past. It carries a knack for mechanics, aeronautics, and electronics as well as anything high tech, futuristic, or visionary, from outer space and psychic research to astrology, inventions, miracles, and discoveries.
This revolutionary planet may be somewhat uncomfortable in practical Taurus, which likes tradition and resists change because it wants security. For example, Taurus rules nearly everything related to money such as cash, checkbooks, banks and bankers, profits, borrowing and spending, securities and stocks, treasuries, and financiers.
Taurus also governs cattle, copper, jewelry, art, and possessions in general. In addition, it is associated with beauty, both artistic and personal through adornment, and our response to beauty, culture, and the arts. It’s especially fond of music, singing, and sculpture.
All these areas will be ripe for change under Uranus’s watch. At the same time, however, Taurus’s energies will help us ground Uranus’s lightning bolts of genius into workable plans and simplified systems that make life easier, more comfortable, and more beautiful. That steadying force will bring some relief after Uranus’s seven years in Aries, famous for its new beginnings, which brought us a dizzying pace of technological change, countless business startups, and constant change in personal identity for many people as they tried new images and careers over and over again.
For you, Scorpio, having Uranus in Taurus will bring change related to marriage, other committed partnerships, ties with business advisors, legal matters such as arbitration, and anything related to peace because it affects your seventh house, which governs these areas. You may see sudden opportunities you’ll have to seize quickly, or you may have flashes of insight that help you move beyond old perspectives so you can get into better alignment with your spiritual nature and desire to help others.
For an in depth look at Uranus in Taurus and how it affects you (and how you can make the most of it), see my article, Uranus In Taurus. It includes a look back at the past seven years of Uranus in Aries as well as an explanation of how Uranus in Taurus is likely to manifest and details for every zodiac sign and how it will be affected by this major shift.
Plan Your Month: Important Dates In May
This month brings several key dates to watch as you plan your month. Mark your calendar and take action (or rest) as recommended on the dates listed here so your efforts can bring progress in all areas.
May 1: May Day, an ancient springtime celebration in the northern hemisphere and in modern times a day to honor labor and workers. Both themes harmonize with Taurus energies, so make the day festive for yourself in some way and give thanks for nature and its beauty.
May 2: The Sun in your partnership house makes a helpful link with Neptune in your creativity and children house, bringing otherworldly insights about your spouse and children and a wish to express compassion creatively. Meditate on how your dearest relationships support your inner life and spiritual mission in this incarnation.
May 7: Mercury in Aries challenges your ruler, Pluto, in your communication and siblings house, and Venus in your joint money house tangles with Neptune. Use extreme care in all communications, especially with sibs and anyone at your job, as tempers could flare or others may mislead you or leave out critical information about a creative project or financial matter. Put off sensitive discussions, keep a low profile around VIPs, and move forward on your own with important projects.
May 8: The Sun in your partnership area faces off against Jupiter in your personality house. You and your partner may not agree about something, and both of you will want your way. Remember your capacity for tolerance and powerful ability to validate others through listening, and you may reach new clarity or a breakthrough and learn something important about your spouse or business partner.
May 11: The Sun in your marriage house nods kindly at Pluto in your communication house, giving you a chance to support your partner through deeply loving words. Write a passionate note or text to your love and get ready for a delicious evening as you head into the weekend.
May 11 – 15: The Moon enters its balsamic phase, the “dark of the Moon” time before the new Moon. Slow down and review the past month since the new Moon that arrived on April 15. Meditate, rest, and reflect on what you want to do in the coming month. Find out more about this mysterious monthly time in my Balsamic Moon Phase article. Also, this period is excellent for spiritual work, meditation, and prayer. See my article on How To Relieve Stress – Meditate At The Right Time for details.
May 12: Mercury in your job house makes a difficult alignment with Mars in your communication house. Watch your temper with all employees, colleagues, and bosses and double check all written communication to make sure the tone avoids aggression, as others won’t be receptive to forceful communications. Put off important conversations and use Mars’s energies to push through a writing assignment or other communication task.
May 13: Mercury dances with Uranus in Aries before heading into placid Taurus. A dazzling insight about a work project, health program, or pet care may have others calling you a genius. Close your day with loving conversation with your special someone or enjoy a meditative walk in nature together to settle your mind after a mentally demanding day.
May 15: A big day, with a new Moon in Taurus. Also, Uranus moves into Taurus for the next seven years, and Mars changes signs, too, entering Aquarius and lighting up your home and family area. The next two weeks bring your best time all year to focus on marriage (or to propose), start talks with a new agent or advisor for your business, or address a legal concern, perhaps through arbitration. With Uranus in this same area, relationship changes are in store, and peace may elude you at times, and you can leverage changes into opportunities if you allow intuition to guide you.
May 16: Mars in your home and family house challenges Uranus in your committed partnership house. Wait until later in the month to discuss real estate matters with a business partner or to negotiate with your spouse about redecorating and put off sensitive conversations about a parent’s demands or increasing need for help until then as well.
May 18: Mercury in your partnership house makes a harmonious angle to Saturn in your communication house, bringing news from your agent or an opportunity to reassure your spouse about a concern. Someone may ask you to help on a communication project, or your partner may wish to include your siblings in future plans or talks. An older person in your community may get in touch or have helpful advice connected to your relationships.
May 19: Venus enters Cancer in your house of long distance travel and higher education and links helpfully to Uranus. Your partner may surprise you by suggesting an overseas journey, or money may come through to help you complete a degree.
May 20: The Sun leaves Taurus for Gemini, energizing your eighth house of joint money, sexuality, and mystical truths. Revisit insurance coverage or loan terms, fine tune a child support agreement, take a class on spirituality, or meditate with your partner as a prelude to intimacy. Enjoy the next month’s breezy, chatty energies.
May 22: Mercury in your partnership and peace house connects subtly with Neptune and faces off against Jupiter in your personality and public image area. Your larger than life approach may collide with your partner’s ideas and more modest style. Pay attention to nuance, promote creative exchanges with others by listening with all your senses, and wait to make final agreements until you have harmony and clarity.
May 23: The Sun in your shared money house waves enthusiastically to Mars in your home, parents, and real estate house. A parent may announce new financial arrangements that benefit you, or your lender may share good news that allows you to begin home renovations or buy property.
May 25: Jupiter and Neptune link with inspiration across the sky, highlighting your creativity and the children in your life. Also, Pluto, your ruler, in your communication house talks clearly with Mercury in your partnership area, but Saturn, also in your communication area, challenges Venus in your long distance travel house. Balance finances for individuals and your family as a whole as best you can, be realistic about upcoming travel, and heed your soul’s guidance to make it all work out.
May 29: Another busy day, as Mercury moves into Gemini, one of the signs it rules, in your joint financial house. Expect many more chats with insurance and lending professionals, tax preparers, investment advisors, and your spouse (and perhaps an ex) as your mind will be on fire with ideas for improving your financial situation. Also, the full Moon arrives in your earned income house, further inspiring you to address money through a better job or more realistic budget or by streamlining expenses and giving away unneeded possessions. If you’re working on anything related to finances, including alimony or child support, you may see a major development now. This day (and the day before and day after) favor spiritual work: plan time for meditation and prayer. See my article on How To Relieve Stress – Meditate At The Right Time for details.
