May Astrology – Headline News
Your Joint Finances, Sexuality, And Deep Transformation
As May begins, we have just one planet in Taurus, the warm and powerful Sun, who always shines his light freely and generously to bring joy and optimism to our world.
On May 13, Mercury will join the Sun in Taurus, followed by Uranus on May 15. These three will dominate Taurus until May 20, when the Sun changes signs.
Taurus is an earth sign symbolized by the Bull, a large and calm creature who is peacefully at home in nature until provoked or placed in unfamiliar or stressful surroundings. Then it shows its temper, becoming agitated or even aggressive and potentially dangerous. The Taurus Bull reminds us we need to take it easy at times, enjoy socializing, and spend time in nature. It also teaches how something new can create stress and how easily tempers can flare when people feel forced to change. For these reasons, Taurus inspires us to seek comfort, especially when under stress or going through a significant change so we can remain sweet-tempered.
Find out more about Taurus in my article, Taurus Time: Ground Yourself Even As The World Changes. Also, you can tune in to this sign’s calm contentment and deep loyalty with The Taurus Meditation, an uplifting guided meditation.
For you, Libra, planets in Taurus always activate your eighth house of joint finances such as mortgages, loans, and child support as well as lump sum payouts from insurance, bonuses, gifts, or inheritance. This area also governs the deepest part of you, as experienced through sexuality and spirituality. The Taurus planets can help solidify your money situation and make you more practical about how you share financial responsibility with someone else. Planets here also heat up your sensuality, prompting you to enjoy your sex life and to understand psychic or spiritual energies through your senses because Taurus loves the joys of the physical realm and carries tremendous intelligence through bodily experiences.
Your Expansion Through Travel, Education, Other Cultures
On May 20, the Sun leaves Taurus for Gemini, which will start the month of the Twins. You’ll feel the energies shift away from the earthy, steady, loyal power of Taurus to the airy, playful, curious world of Gemini. This annual change brings a refreshing breeziness after Taurus and its tendency to stay home, sit still, and indulge its senses.
For you, Libra, planets in Gemini revitalize your urge to expand your consciousness by augmenting your life because they put airy chattiness and a desire to be on the go into your ninth house of higher education, long distance travel, and exposure to other cultures through foreign people, international art, and unfamiliar cuisines. This area also governs justice, religion, beliefs, and faith and how you live ethically through noble principles. As soon as the Sun enters Gemini, you may feel inspired to seek a graduate degree, research trips to far flung spots that pique your curiosity, explore different faith traditions, learn a language, or Skype with overseas pals.
Jupiter In Scorpio: Halfway Point Review
Since October 10, 2017, Jupiter has been traveling through Scorpio.
Jupiter spends 13 months in each sign, giving us a special annual theme to help focus our attention. So we’re about halfway through this cycle, making this month a perfect time to look back on how we’re doing with our current Jupiter assignment.
As the biggest planet in our solar system, Jupiter is associated with abundance, affluence, and even extravagance. Wherever Jupiter is located, we find expansion, protection, nobility, and leadership. Often, these benefits come through Jupiter’s favorite subjects: foreign people and places, overseas travel, higher education, philosophy, and large scale media (such as publishing). All these expand our horizons and our consciousness.
In Scorpio, Jupiter is taking us deep within to heal and regenerate (or release) whatever must change. It’s also helping us explore secrets, hidden passions, and spirituality as well as see the global problems that need compassion and fixing.
How well are you doing in these areas? What remains for you to explore and improve? Are you blocking abundance or joy by being stingy or judgmental?
For you, Libra, this is a great time to do all you can to increase your earning power, either through a new job or getting new clients.

A New Era Arrives
After seven years in Aries, the Great Awakener, Uranus, moves into earthy Taurus on May 15.
This is a major change that signals a new era for all of us. Before May 15, be sure to look back at what’s happened in your life and the world since March 2011 to honor how far you’ve come since then. See your horoscope from last month in our horoscope archives for recommendations on how to put the Uranus in Aries era into perspective so you’ll be ready for the changes starting on May 15.
Uranus is associated with electricity, lightning, and wild weather as well as genius and brilliance that come as lightning flashes of inspiration. It also brings a powerfully disruptive or even rebellious energy designed to help us change—and fast—as well as free ourselves and others and let go of the past. It carries a knack for mechanics, aeronautics, and electronics as well as anything high tech, futuristic, or visionary, from outer space and psychic research to astrology, inventions, miracles, and discoveries.
This revolutionary planet may be somewhat uncomfortable in practical Taurus, which likes tradition and resists change because it wants security. For example, Taurus rules nearly everything related to money such as cash, checkbooks, banks and bankers, profits, borrowing and spending, securities and stocks, treasuries, and financiers.
Taurus also governs cattle, copper, jewelry, art, and possessions in general. In addition, it is associated with beauty, both artistic and personal through adornment, and our response to beauty, culture, and the arts. It’s especially fond of music, singing, and sculpture.
All these areas will be ripe for change under Uranus’s watch. At the same time, however, Taurus’s energies will help us ground Uranus’s lightning bolts of genius into workable plans and simplified systems that make life easier, more comfortable, and more beautiful. That steadying force will bring some relief after Uranus’s seven years in Aries, famous for its new beginnings, which brought us a dizzying pace of technological change, countless business startups, and constant change in personal identity for many people as they tried new images and careers over and over again.
For you, Libra, having Uranus in Taurus will bring change related to shared money, payouts from insurance or commissions, and your intimate life through sex and spirituality because it affects your eighth house, which governs these areas. You may see sudden opportunities you’ll have to seize quickly, or you may have flashes of insight that help you move beyond old perspectives so you can get into better alignment with your spiritual nature and desire to help others.
For an in depth look at Uranus in Taurus and how it affects you (and how you can make the most of it), see my article, Uranus In Taurus. It includes a look back at the past seven years of Uranus in Aries as well as an explanation of how Uranus in Taurus is likely to manifest and details for every zodiac sign and how it will be affected by this major shift.
Plan Your Month: Important Dates In May
This month brings several key dates to watch as you plan your month. Mark your calendar and take action (or rest) as recommended on the dates listed here so your efforts can bring progress in all areas.
May 1: May Day, an ancient springtime celebration in the northern hemisphere and in modern times a day to honor labor and workers. Both themes harmonize with Taurus energies, so make the day festive for yourself in some way and give thanks for nature and its beauty.
May 2: The Sun in your shared finances house makes a helpful link with Neptune in your work house, bringing otherworldly insights about your material life. Meditate on how your job supports your loved ones as well as your spiritual values and mission in this incarnation.
May 7: Mercury in Aries challenges Pluto in your home and family house, and your ruler, Venus, in your expansion house tangles with Neptune. If you must travel for work, especially overseas, be diplomatic with others and double check arrangements and communications, as details may be sketchy and could provoke anger or impatience. Put off sensitive discussions with your partner about a family concern or remodeling project; use this time to handle your own responsibilities or prepare for a talk later.
May 8: The Sun in your joint income area faces off against Jupiter in your personal finance house. Money and spending concerns may come to a head, giving you clarity or a breakthrough. You may learn vital details related to company benefits, loan fees, or credit card debt.
May 11: The Sun in your sexuality house nods kindly at Pluto in your house of home, giving you and your partner a chance to unwind in private and retreat for passionate encounters. This alignment also could bring a favorable outcome for a loan or mortgage application, empowering you to buy a home or invest in valuable rental properties.
May 11 – 15: The Moon enters its balsamic phase, the “dark of the Moon” time before the new Moon. Slow down and review the past month since the new Moon that arrived on April 15. Meditate, rest, and reflect on what you want to do in the coming month. Find out more about this mysterious monthly time in my Balsamic Moon Phase article. Also, this period is excellent for spiritual work, meditation, and prayer. See my article on How To Relieve Stress – Meditate At The Right Time for details.
May 12: Mercury in your marriage house makes a difficult alignment with Mars in your family house. Your partner may say something that challenges one of your parents or another relative, so use your trademark charm and diplomacy to negotiate a truce as you get to the bottom of the altercation. Others will resist seeing different points of view, so put off a discussion with the individuals involved for now and focus your energies on restoring harmony as best you can.
May 13: Mercury dances with Uranus in Aries before heading into placid Taurus. Your partner may have unexpected news or may surprise you with a novel idea for recreation. Close your day with a tender conversation with your love or a walk in nature before settling in for a night of sweet nothings and sensual passion.
May 15: A big day, with a new Moon in Taurus. Also, Uranus moves into Taurus for the next seven years, and Mars changes signs, too, entering Aquarius and lighting up your children and creativity area. The next two weeks bring your best time all year to evaluate shared money to negotiate better credit card rates, pay down a loan or mortgage, or streamline insurance as well as rework budgets to reflect commissions or other non-regular income so that your children have what they need and you and your partner feel at peace with how you handle money. With Uranus in this same area, money changes are in store, and you can leverage them into opportunities if you allow intuition to guide you.
May 16: Mars in your creativity and romance house challenges Uranus in your house of shared income. Wait until later in the month to speak with your spouse about investing in a creative project or buying equipment for a child’s activities and hold off on investment portfolio changes until then as well.
May 18: Mercury in your shared funds house makes a harmonious angle to Saturn in your house of home, suggesting a parent may announce a financial gift or a mortgage broker may have good news about a loan. If you need to negotiate with an ex about alimony or child support, now is a good time to open discussions. Also, if you don’t have a will, ask for recommendations and start the process.
May 19: Your ruler, Venus, enters Cancer in your career house and links helpfully to Uranus. More money could come through a promotion, bonus, or high profile client assignment, especially if you tune in to your intuition about asking the right person at the right time for advancement or a raise.
May 20: The Sun leaves Taurus for Gemini, energizing your ninth house of publishing, long trips, and philosophy. Contact a noted academic to research your next book, speech, or article or take a learning vacation through a university to rub shoulders with interesting people as you explore and discuss other cultures. Enjoy the next month’s breezy, chatty energies.
May 22: Mercury in your joint money house connects subtly with Neptune and faces off against Jupiter in your personal income area. Overly idealistic plans related to your job or budget may collide with fiscal reality. Exercise intelligence and restraint in discussions about money and financial responsibility and wait to make new purchases or sign new loan agreements until you can gain better clarity on terms and the impact on household finances.
May 23: The Sun in your travel and education house waves enthusiastically to Mars in your creativity and romance house. An opportunity to teach overseas, using your artistic and other creative talents, may beckon, or you may hear about an arts exchange or exhibit venue with international ties.
May 25: Jupiter and Neptune link with inspiration across the sky, highlighting pleasing balance between your job and home that fosters good health, restful sleep, and sweet dreams. Also, Pluto in your family house communicates clearly with Mercury in your shared income area, but Saturn, also in your family and home area, challenges Venus in your career house. Remember those sweet dreams and hold fast to your need for balance throughout your life as you heed your soul’s guidance, which will help you make it all work out.
May 29: Another busy day, as Mercury moves into Gemini, one of the signs it rules, in your house of academic expansion and broadcasting. Expect many more chats with brainy people or notable faculty, and a top media connection could be in touch about a guest spot on radio or a podcast. Also, the full Moon arrives in your communication and sibling house, inspiring you to contact brothers and sisters or get serious about a dream to write your novel or family history. If you’re working on a travel or education concern, you may see a major development now. This day (and the day before and day after) favor spiritual work: plan time for meditation and prayer.
