May Astrology – Headline News
Your Spirituality And Health
As May begins, we have just one planet in Taurus, the warm and powerful Sun, who always shines his light freely and generously to bring joy and optimism to our world.
On May 13, your ruler, Mercury, will join the Sun in Taurus, followed by Uranus on May 15. These three will dominate Taurus until May 20, when the Sun changes signs.
Taurus is an earth sign symbolized by the Bull, a large and calm creature who is peacefully at home in nature until provoked or placed in unfamiliar or stressful surroundings. Then it shows its temper, becoming agitated or even aggressive and potentially dangerous. The Taurus Bull reminds us we need to take it easy at times, enjoy socializing, and spend time in nature. It also teaches how something new can create stress and how easily tempers can flare when people feel forced to change. For these reasons, Taurus inspires us to seek comfort, especially when under stress or going through a significant change so we can remain sweet-tempered.
Find out more about Taurus in my article, Taurus Time: Ground Yourself Even As The World Changes. Also, you can tune in to this sign’s calm contentment and deep loyalty with The Taurus Meditation, an uplifting guided meditation.
For you, Gemini, planets in Taurus always activate your twelfth house of your spiritual life, solitude, rest, dreams, health, and psychology. The Taurus planets can help solidify progress on a health or psychological concern and make you more practical about getting rest and taking good care of yourself. They also may inspire you to be more methodical about recording and analyzing your dreams to get spiritual guidance or spend more time meditating to get inspiration, perhaps for a creative project.
Your Body, Personality, And Personal Projects
On May 20, the Sun leaves Taurus for Gemini, which will start the month of the Twins. You’ll feel the energies shift away from the earthy, steady, loyal power of Taurus to the airy, playful, curious world of Gemini. This annual change brings a refreshing breeziness after Taurus and its tendency to stay home, sit still, and indulge its senses, and it gives us the official start to your month, the time of the Twins.
For you, Gemini, planets in your sign revitalize your health because they put airy chattiness and a desire to be on the go into your first house of your body. This area also governs your personality and character as well as projects of great meaning to you personally. As soon as the Sun enters Gemini, you may feel inspired to start a fitness or nutrition plan, read a book or take a class to improve your image or upgrade your personality, or start a project you’ve long dreamed of doing.
Jupiter In Scorpio: Halfway Point Review
Since October 10, 2017, Jupiter has been traveling through Scorpio.
Jupiter spends 13 months in each sign, giving us a special annual theme to help focus our attention. So we’re about halfway through this cycle, making this month a perfect time to look back on how we’re doing with our current Jupiter assignment.
As the biggest planet in our solar system, Jupiter is associated with abundance, affluence, and even extravagance. Wherever Jupiter is located, we find expansion, protection, nobility, and leadership. Often, these benefits come through Jupiter’s favorite subjects: foreign people and places, overseas travel, higher education, philosophy, and large scale media (such as publishing). All these expand our horizons and our consciousness.
In Scorpio, Jupiter is taking us deep within to heal and regenerate (or release) whatever must change. It’s also helping us explore secrets, hidden passions, and spirituality as well as see the global problems that need compassion and fixing.
How well are you doing in these areas? What remains for you to explore and improve? Are you blocking abundance or joy by being stingy or judgmental?
For you, Gemini, this is a great time to overcome health concerns, improve fitness and nutrition, seek a promotion or new job, adopt a pet, or reinvent your personal routines with help from a coach or consultant so they serve you better.

A New Era Arrives
After seven years in Aries, the Great Awakener, Uranus, moves into earthy Taurus on May 15.
This is a major change that signals a new era for all of us. Before May 15, be sure to look back at what’s happened in your life and the world since March 2011 to honor how far you’ve come since then. See your horoscope from last month in our horoscope archives for recommendations on how to put the Uranus in Aries era into perspective so you’ll be ready for the changes starting on May 15.
Uranus is associated with electricity, lightning, and wild weather as well as genius and brilliance that come as lightning flashes of inspiration. It also brings a powerfully disruptive or even rebellious energy designed to help us change—and fast—as well as free ourselves and others and let go of the past. It carries a knack for mechanics, aeronautics, and electronics as well as anything high tech, futuristic, or visionary, from outer space and psychic research to astrology, inventions, miracles, and discoveries.
This revolutionary planet may be somewhat uncomfortable in practical Taurus, which likes tradition and resists change because it wants security. For example, Taurus rules nearly everything related to money such as cash, checkbooks, banks and bankers, profits, borrowing and spending, securities and stocks, treasuries, and financiers.
Taurus also governs cattle, copper, jewelry, art, and possessions in general. In addition, it is associated with beauty, both artistic and personal through adornment, and our response to beauty, culture, and the arts. It’s especially fond of music, singing, and sculpture.
All these areas will be ripe for change under Uranus’s watch. At the same time, however, Taurus’s energies will help us ground Uranus’s lightning bolts of genius into workable plans and simplified systems that make life easier, more comfortable, and more beautiful. That steadying force will bring some relief after Uranus’s seven years in Aries, famous for its new beginnings, which brought us a dizzying pace of technological change, countless business startups, and constant change in personal identity for many people as they tried new images and careers over and over again.
For you, Gemini, having Uranus in Taurus will bring change related to spirituality, solitude, health, dreams, and your subconscious because it affects your twelfth house, which governs these areas. You may see sudden opportunities you’ll have to seize quickly, or you may have flashes of insight that help you move beyond old perspectives so you can get into better alignment with your spiritual nature and desire to help others.
For an in depth look at Uranus in Taurus and how it affects you (and how you can make the most of it), see my article, Uranus In Taurus. It includes a look back at the past seven years of Uranus in Aries as well as an explanation of how Uranus in Taurus is likely to manifest and details for every zodiac sign and how it will be affected by this major shift.
Plan Your Month: Important Dates In May
This month brings several key dates to watch as you plan your month. Mark your calendar and take action (or rest) as recommended on the dates listed here so your efforts can bring progress in all areas.
May 1: May Day, an ancient springtime celebration in the northern hemisphere and in modern times a day to honor labor and workers. Both themes harmonize with Taurus energies, so make the day festive for yourself in some way and give thanks for nature and its beauty.
May 2: The Sun in your spirituality and privacy house makes a helpful link with Neptune in your professional house, bringing inspiration from dreams or meditation to help resolve a career question or a compassionate urge to start a humanitarian project with colleagues.
May 7: Your ruler, Mercury, in Aries challenges Pluto in your joint financial house, and Venus in your personality house tangles with Neptune. Money concerns you’d rather keep secret may prevent donating to a charity, or financial dealings with friends may hit snags. Work plans for a creative project dear to your heart may be unrealistic or cost more than planned, so wait to present to bosses, stay under the radar, and seek clarity as you work on your own.
May 8: The Sun in your psychology and healing area faces off against Jupiter in your health and fitness house. Concerns over a health issue may come to a head, giving you new data or a breakthrough. You may realize your habits, thoughts, or emotional patterns have held back progress and may resolve to make improvements that support good health and a balanced lifestyle.
May 11: The Sun in your spiritual retreat house nods kindly at Pluto in your occult and mysticism house, giving you a chance to explore your soul more deeply with time away on your own. This alignment also could bring favor from lenders for a project you’re working on behind the scenes.
May 11 – 15: The Moon enters its balsamic phase, the “dark of the Moon” time before the new Moon. Slow down and review the past month since the new Moon that arrived on April 15. Meditate, rest, and reflect on what you want to do in the coming month. Find out more about this mysterious monthly time in my Balsamic Moon Phase article. Also, this period is excellent for spiritual work, meditation, and prayer. See my article on How To Relieve Stress – Meditate At The Right Time for details.
May 12: Mercury, your ruler, in your house of networking and friends makes a difficult alignment with Mars in your shared money house. Venture capitalists may put the brakes on a joint business deal with a business associate or pressure you to make changes or give up control. Exercise caution in all communications and avoid putting personal finances at risk or lending money you cannot spare to a friend. If possible, wait to hold sensitive talks.
May 13: Mercury dances with Uranus in Aries before heading into placid Taurus. You may meet a brilliant new friend or hear an electrifying speech at a business mixer or fundraiser that inspires you with visionary ideas. Wrap up your day with a solitary walk or meditation to process your insights or call a loved one for a peaceful conversation.
May 15: A big day, with a new Moon in Taurus. Also, Uranus moves into Taurus for the next seven years, and Mars changes signs, too, entering Aquarius and lighting up your international and higher education area. The next two weeks bring your best time all year to start a meditation practice, get help from a therapist, begin a dream journal, or enjoy greater solitude. With Uranus in this same area, health and spiritual changes are in store, and you can leverage them into opportunities if you allow intuition and dreams to guide you.
May 16: Mars in your international, publishing, and broadcasting house challenges Uranus in your house of hush hush projects. Wait until later in the month announce an international publicity program and put off contacting major media connections until then as well.
May 18: Mercury in your privacy house makes a harmonious angle to Saturn in your deep transformation and sexuality house, giving you time and space to attend to your intimate relationship and sexual health. Saturn’s placement also concerns shared finances, so if you need funding for a top secret project, now is the time to connect with lenders or submit applications and other papers.
May 19: Venus enters Cancer in your house of earned income and links helpfully to Uranus. Hunches can pay off in a job search, or an invention you’ve developed could net you a job offer or promotion.
May 20: The Sun leaves Taurus for Gemini, energizing your first house of your body, health, personality, and public image. Start a fun new exercise program, improve personal grooming with new products or a better stylist, and put on your smile and best looks when you step out because you will be in the spotlight all month. Enjoy the next month’s breezy, chatty energies.
May 22: Your ruler, Mercury, in your psychology house connects subtly with Neptune and faces off against Jupiter in your health area. Idealism in your career may collide with concerns over health or ingrained patterns or attitudes that keep you stuck. Notice what arises, seek clarity, and be receptive to new ways of thinking and feeling that can help your well being as well as your professional life.
May 23: The Sun in your house of personality waves enthusiastically to Mars in your international and publicity house, attracting attention from overseas colleagues or priceless promotion for a pet project.
May 25: Jupiter and Neptune link with inspiration across the sky, highlighting the ways your job and daily life management support overall career goals. Also, Pluto in your shared money house communicates clearly with Mercury in your spiritual zone but Saturn, also in your shared money area, challenges Venus in your personal money house. Your need to fulfill your financial responsibilities must take precedence over personal desires to get away or indulge in luxuries, at least for now. Balance personal and family spending and take time to reflect or meditate to receive inspiration for harmonizing all aspects of your life.
May 29: Another busy day, as Mercury moves into Gemini, one of the signs it rules, in your house of yourself and your health and personality. Expect to be even more chatty or filled with ideas than usual, and give your mind free rein when it comes to thoughts for improving your appearance or character. Also, the full Moon arrives in your partnership and agreements house, inspiring you to finalize a business partnership or propose to your sweetheart. If you have concerns related to your marriage or an advisor or agent, you may see a major development now. This day (and the day before and day after) favor spiritual work: plan time for meditation and prayer. See my article on How To Relieve Stress – Meditate At The Right Time for details.

Your Birthday Is Coming
In addition to all these dates, Gemini, your birthday will arrive soon.
You will begin a new annual cycle then, with powerful energies for starting anything new. During the weeks leading up to your birthday, make time to meditate and reflect on the experiences you’ve had this past year and how well you’ve lived up to your best self.
Honor your accomplishments and analyze your challenges. Both have shaped how you grew this year and can help you create wondrous experiences in the coming year by building on what you’ve learned. Look back and enjoy all the times you expressed your best and truest self.
May your reflections bring you useful insights along with many reasons to smile at the love you shared with friends and family, the new people who entered your life, and the great things you achieved.
