Your Health, Personality, And Pet Projects
As May begins, we have just one planet in Taurus, the warm and powerful Sun, who always shines his light freely and generously to bring joy and optimism to our world.
On May 13, Mercury will join the Sun in Taurus, followed by Uranus on May 15. These three will dominate Taurus until May 20, when the Sun changes signs.
Taurus is an earth sign symbolized by the Bull, a large and calm creature who is peacefully at home in nature until provoked or placed in unfamiliar or stressful surroundings. Then it shows its temper, becoming agitated or even aggressive and potentially dangerous. The Taurus Bull reminds us we need to take it easy at times, enjoy socializing, and spend time in nature. It also teaches how something new can create stress and how easily tempers can flare when people feel forced to change. For these reasons, Taurus inspires us to seek comfort, especially when under stress or going through a significant change so we can remain sweet-tempered.
Find out more about Taurus in my article, Taurus Time: Ground Yourself Even As The World Changes. Also, you can tune in to this sign’s calm contentment and deep loyalty with The Taurus Meditation, an uplifting guided meditation.
For you, Taurus, planets in your sign always activate your first house of physical incarnation: the body you live in, your health, your personality and character, and the activities dearly important to you individually. All the Taurus planets will showcase your personality and put new focus on your health and body. They also will increase your desire for personal improvement and creating a new pet project that reflects your most important interests.
Your Money And Values
On May 20, the Sun leaves Taurus for Gemini, which will start the month of the Twins. You’ll feel the energies shift away from the earthy, steady, loyal power of Taurus to the airy, playful, curious world of Gemini. This annual change brings a refreshing breeziness after Taurus and its tendency to stay home, sit still, and indulge its senses.
For you, Taurus, planets in Gemini revitalize your finances because they put airy chattiness and a desire to be on the go into your second house of earned income, possessions, and money management. This area also governs your values and whether they align with how you earn a living as well as objects you own that have significant monetary value such as art and jewelry. As soon as the Sun enters Gemini, you may feel inspired to air out your belongings, literally, by cleaning out closets and hanging garments out to air. You also may want to make a job change, buy new gadgets, or talk to people about budgeting.
Jupiter In Scorpio: Halfway Point Review
Since October 10, 2017, Jupiter has been traveling through Scorpio.
Jupiter spends 13 months in each sign, giving us a special annual theme to help focus our attention. So we’re about halfway through this cycle, making this month a perfect time to look back on how we’re doing with our current Jupiter assignment.
As the biggest planet in our solar system, Jupiter is associated with abundance, affluence, and even extravagance. Wherever Jupiter is located, we find expansion, protection, nobility, and leadership. Often, these benefits come through Jupiter’s favorite subjects: foreign people and places, overseas travel, higher education, philosophy, and large scale media (such as publishing). All these expand our horizons and our consciousness.
In Scorpio, Jupiter is taking us deep within to heal and regenerate (or release) whatever must change. It’s also helping us explore secrets, hidden passions, and spirituality as well as see the global problems that need compassion and fixing.
How well are you doing in these areas? What remains for you to explore and improve? Are you blocking abundance or joy by being stingy or judgmental?
For you, Taurus, this is a great time to marry or sign a new agent or advisor and to focus on marriage and business partners by traveling overseas together or teaming up on a publicity effort or to learn about new cultures and cuisines.

A New Era Arrives
After seven years in Aries, the Great Awakener, Uranus, moves into earthy Taurus on May 15.
This is a major change that signals a new era for all of us. Before May 15, be sure to look back at what’s happened in your life and the world since March 2011 to honor how far you’ve come since then. See your horoscope from last month in our horoscope archives for recommendations on how to put the Uranus in Aries era into perspective so you’ll be ready for the changes starting on May 15.
Uranus is associated with electricity, lightning, and wild weather as well as genius and brilliance that come as lightning flashes of inspiration. It also brings a powerfully disruptive or even rebellious energy designed to help us change—and fast—as well as free ourselves and others and let go of the past. It carries a knack for mechanics, aeronautics, and electronics as well as anything high tech, futuristic, or visionary, from outer space and psychic research to astrology, inventions, miracles, and discoveries.
This revolutionary planet may be somewhat uncomfortable in practical Taurus, which likes tradition and resists change because it wants security. For example, Taurus rules nearly everything related to money such as cash, checkbooks, banks and bankers, profits, borrowing and spending, securities and stocks, treasuries, and financiers.
Taurus also governs cattle, copper, jewelry, art, and possessions in general. In addition, it is associated with beauty, both artistic and personal through adornment, and our response to beauty, culture, and the arts. It’s especially fond of music, singing, and sculpture.
All these areas will be ripe for change under Uranus’s watch. At the same time, however, Taurus’s energies will help us ground Uranus’s lightning bolts of genius into workable plans and simplified systems that make life easier, more comfortable, and more beautiful. That steadying force will bring some relief after Uranus’s seven years in Aries, famous for its new beginnings, which brought us a dizzying pace of technological change, countless business startups, and constant change in personal identity for many people as they tried new images and careers over and over again.
For you, Taurus, having Uranus in your sign will bring change related to your health, personality, character, public image, and personal projects of particular meaning to you because it affects your first house, which governs these areas. You may see sudden opportunities you’ll have to seize quickly, or you may have flashes of insight that help you move beyond old perspectives to help you get into better alignment with your spiritual nature and desire to help others.
For an in depth look at Uranus in Taurus and how it affects you (and how you can make the most of it), see my article, Uranus In Taurus. It includes a look back at the past seven years of Uranus in Aries as well as an explanation of how Uranus in Taurus is likely to manifest and details for every zodiac sign and how it will be affected by this major shift.
Plan Your Month: Important Dates In May
This month brings several key dates to watch as you plan your month. Mark your calendar and take action (or rest) as recommended on the dates listed here so your efforts can bring progress in all areas.
May 1: May Day, an ancient springtime celebration in the northern hemisphere and in modern times a day to honor labor and workers. Both themes harmonize with Taurus energies, so make the day festive for yourself in some way and give thanks for nature and its beauty.
May 2: The Sun in your personality house makes a helpful link with Neptune in your friendship house, bringing a spotlight to you for your compassionate support of friends and associates. Meditate on how your friends enrich your life and help you shine the most beautiful aspects of your personality.
May 7: Mercury in Aries challenges Pluto in your international house, and your ruler, Venus, in your money house tangles with Neptune. If you’re working on a hush hush project with an international colleague or working to get a new job, be cautious in all communications and avoid pushing or overpromising with VIPs because energies could be intense and information may be missing or unclear. Avoid important discussions and work on your own if possible.
May 8: The Sun in your personality area faces off against Jupiter in your partnership house. Your marriage or business partner’s need for independence or desire to travel may come up and force discussions on balancing "I" and "we" as well as home and away.
May 11: The Sun in your house of self nods kindly at Pluto in your international house, giving you a chance to sync personal interests and projects with global needs. This alignment also could bring attention from a powerful travel guru, academic expert, or publisher.
May 11 – 15: The Moon enters its balsamic phase, the “dark of the Moon” time before the new Moon. Slow down and review the past month since the new Moon that arrived on April 15. Meditate, rest, and reflect on what you want to do in the coming month. Find out more about this mysterious monthly time in my Balsamic Moon Phase article. Also, this period is excellent for spiritual work, meditation, and prayer. See my article on How To Relieve Stress – Meditate At The Right Time for details.
May 12: Mercury in your house of spirituality makes a difficult alignment with Mars in your higher education house. Be alert to self-styled gurus who want to impose beliefs on you. This placement also could affect a broadcasting project you’re working on behind the scenes. Watch your temper and avoid saying anything you may regret, as others won’t respond well. Wait to hold important conversations and direct energies toward finishing key tasks.
May 13: Mercury dances with Uranus in Aries before heading into placid Taurus. You may have a dazzling spiritual insight, a prophetic dream, or a brilliant health breakthrough. Close your day with prayer and meditation or an evening walk so you can reflect on your experience.
May 15: A big day, with a new Moon in Taurus. Also, Uranus moves into Taurus for the next seven years, and Mars changes signs, too, entering Aquarius and lighting up your career area. The next two weeks bring your best time all year to start any project with deep personal meaning for you, such as a health or self-improvement program or service project. It’s also a good time to try a new hairstyle or begin a personal style and wardrobe makeover. With Uranus in this same area, changes are in store in all these areas, and you can leverage them into opportunities if you allow intuition to guide you in upgrading your character, health, and how you present yourself to the world.
May 16: Mars in your career house challenges Uranus in your house of personality. Your personality and leadership will be on full display, so watch your step, beware stubbornness, and avoid sudden actions and anything that could make tempers flare. Put off major announcements or changes until this energy passes.
May 18: Mercury in your personality house makes a harmonious angle to Saturn in your publicity house, bringing favor from publishers or broadcast professionals. Someone may ask you to speak on air about an important topic, or you may receive an offer to write an article or give a presentation, perhaps overseas. An academic or international leader can help you with a pet project if you ask.
May 19: Venus, your ruler, enters Cancer in your house of communication and siblings and links helpfully to Uranus. Call a brother or sister who needs emotional support, as you may have an unusual take on the situation that can spark a breakthrough. Or invite siblings for a meal and suggest a quirky venue new to all of you.
May 20: The Sun leaves Taurus for Gemini, energizing your second house of money, earned income, and possessions. Get a new app or program to track expenses and budget better or start a job search or campaign to win a promotion or new client. Enjoy the next month’s breezy, chatty energies.
May 22: Mercury in your personal projects house connects subtly with Neptune and faces off against Jupiter in your partnership area. Unrealistic plans for networking or an initiative or charity project you want to start may collide with your partner’s ideas and goals. Wait to start something new and listen carefully to others to bring concerns and details into focus.
May 23: The Sun in your money house waves enthusiastically to Mars in your career house. Your energetic leadership and business talents can attract attention, so if you want to ask for a raise or promotion, speak up now. This time also favors job interviews or other activities to secure a new and happier position.
May 25: Jupiter and Neptune link with inspiration across the sky, highlighting compassionate desires to improve the world and your loving relationship with your marriage partner. Join with your partner on a charitable board or project or attend a fundraiser together. Also, Pluto in your international travel house communicates clearly with Mercury in your personality area, but Saturn, also in your international zone, challenges your ruler, Venus, in your sibling house. An overseas business trip or international publicity campaign may require extra work, especially written documents, or a sibling may hit snags on an immigration or education matter. Help your loved ones as best you can, even as you attend to business, and pay scrupulous attention to all communications to ensure accuracy and clarity.
May 29: Another busy day, as Mercury moves into Gemini, one of the signs it rules, in your house of money and values. Expect many more ideas and conversations about your income, and your mind will work double time coming up with better ways to budget, get new clients, or earn a raise or promotion. Also, the full Moon arrives in your shared money house, perhaps bringing news of a gift, inheritance, or bonus. If you’re working on something related to child support, alimony, insurance, or a loan, you may see a major development now. You also may have new insights about your deepest spirituality and personal values, realizing you must make critical changes. This day (and the day before and day after) favor spiritual work: plan time for meditation and prayer. See my article on How To Relieve Stress – Meditate At The Right Time for details.
