May Astrology – Headline News
Your Job, Health, And Life Management
As May begins, we have just one planet in Taurus, the warm and powerful Sun, who always shines his light freely and generously to bring joy and optimism to our world.
On May 13, Mercury will join the Sun in Taurus, followed by Uranus on May 15. These three will dominate Taurus until May 20, when the Sun changes signs.
Taurus is an earth sign symbolized by the Bull, a large and calm creature who is peacefully at home in nature until provoked or placed in unfamiliar or stressful surroundings. Then it shows its temper, becoming agitated or even aggressive and potentially dangerous. The Taurus Bull reminds us we need to take it easy at times, enjoy socializing, and spend time in nature. It also teaches how something new can create stress and how easily tempers can flare when people feel forced to change. For these reasons, Taurus inspires us to seek comfort, especially when under stress or going through a significant change so we can remain sweet-tempered.
Find out more about Taurus in my article, Taurus Time: Ground Yourself Even As The World Changes. Also, you can tune in to this sign’s calm contentment and deep loyalty with The Taurus Meditation, an uplifting guided meditation.
For you, Sagittarius, planets in Taurus always activate your sixth house of work (including employees and colleagues), health and nutrition, and habits and routines. The Taurus planets can help solidify your work routines and health habits and make you more practical about how you operate on the job, take care of yourself to promote vibrant health, and link body with mind and spirit to stay energized and vibrant so you can shine at work. Paradoxically, they also may inspire you to indulge because Taurus loves comfort, rich food, and congenial companions, making this a good time to redefine pleasure to include simpler fare and joyful movement to keep your body in excellent condition.
Your Marriage, Business Alliances, And Peacefulness
On May 20, the Sun leaves Taurus for Gemini, which will start the month of the Twins. You’ll feel the energies shift away from the earthy, steady, loyal power of Taurus to the airy, playful, curious world of Gemini. This annual change brings a refreshing breeziness after Taurus and its tendency to stay home, sit still, and indulge its senses.
For you, Sagittarius, planets in Gemini revitalize your marriage and business partners and your bonds with them because they put airy chattiness and a desire to be on the go into your seventh house of committed partnerships. This area also governs agreements and contracts, especially with your spouse or a business agent or advisor, as well as steps you take to help promote peace in your life and the world. As soon as the Sun enters Gemini, you may feel inspired to converse much more with your partner, sign with a new agent or business expert, or discuss peace initiatives with the people you’re closest to and perhaps get involved to help the cause.
Jupiter In Scorpio: Halfway Point Review
Since October 10, 2017, your ruler, Jupiter, has been traveling through Scorpio.
Jupiter spends 13 months in each sign, giving us a special annual theme to help focus our attention. So we’re about halfway through this cycle, making this month a perfect time to look back on how we’re doing with our current Jupiter assignment.
As the biggest planet in our solar system, Jupiter is associated with abundance, affluence, and even extravagance. Wherever Jupiter is located, we find expansion, protection, nobility, and leadership. Often, these benefits come through Jupiter’s favorite subjects: foreign people and places, overseas travel, higher education, philosophy, and large scale media (such as publishing). All these expand our horizons and our consciousness.
In Scorpio, Jupiter is taking us deep within to heal and regenerate (or release) whatever must change. It’s also helping us explore secrets, hidden passions, and spirituality as well as see the global problems that need compassion and fixing.
How well are you doing in these areas? What remains for you to explore and improve? Are you blocking abundance or joy by being stingy or judgmental?
For you, Sagittarius, this is a great time to get ready for your big year that will begin this November, when Jupiter, your ruler, returns to your own sign. Until then, address health concerns, rest, and work on projects behind the scenes.

A New Era Arrives
After seven years in Aries, the Great Awakener, Uranus, moves into earthy Taurus on May 15.
This is a major change that signals a new era for all of us. Before May 15, be sure to look back at what’s happened in your life and the world since March 2011 to honor how far you’ve come since then. See your horoscope from last month in our horoscope archives for recommendations on how to put the Uranus in Aries era into perspective so you’ll be ready for the changes starting on May 15.
Uranus is associated with electricity, lightning, and wild weather as well as genius and brilliance that come as lightning flashes of inspiration. It also brings a powerfully disruptive or even rebellious energy designed to help us change—and fast—as well as free ourselves and others and let go of the past. It carries a knack for mechanics, aeronautics, and electronics as well as anything high tech, futuristic, or visionary, from outer space and psychic research to astrology, inventions, miracles, and discoveries.
This revolutionary planet may be somewhat uncomfortable in practical Taurus, which likes tradition and resists change because it wants security. For example, Taurus rules nearly everything related to money such as cash, checkbooks, banks and bankers, profits, borrowing and spending, securities and stocks, treasuries, and financiers.
Taurus also governs cattle, copper, jewelry, art, and possessions in general. In addition, it is associated with beauty, both artistic and personal through adornment, and our response to beauty, culture, and the arts. It’s especially fond of music, singing, and sculpture.
All these areas will be ripe for change under Uranus’s watch. At the same time, however, Taurus’s energies will help us ground Uranus’s lightning bolts of genius into workable plans and simplified systems that make life easier, more comfortable, and more beautiful. That steadying force will bring some relief after Uranus’s seven years in Aries, famous for its new beginnings, which brought us a dizzying pace of technological change, countless business startups, and constant change in personal identity for many people as they tried new images and careers over and over again.
For you, Sagittarius, having Uranus in Taurus will bring change related to your job and daily work, employees and colleagues, and health and fitness because it affects your sixth house, which governs these areas. You may see sudden opportunities you’ll have to seize quickly, or you may have flashes of insight that help you move beyond old perspectives so you can get into better alignment with your spiritual nature and desire to help others.
For an in depth look at Uranus in Taurus and how it affects you (and how you can make the most of it), see my article, Uranus In Taurus. It includes a look back at the past seven years of Uranus in Aries as well as an explanation of how Uranus in Taurus is likely to manifest and details for every zodiac sign and how it will be affected by this major shift.
Plan Your Month: Important Dates In May
This month brings several key dates to watch as you plan your month. Mark your calendar and take action (or rest) as recommended on the dates listed here so your efforts can bring progress in all areas.
May 1: May Day, an ancient springtime celebration in the northern hemisphere and in modern times a day to honor labor and workers. Both themes harmonize with Taurus energies, so make the day festive for yourself in some way and give thanks for nature and its beauty.
May 2: The Sun in your job house makes a helpful link with Neptune in your home house, bringing otherworldly insights that can put your work life into perspective and help you create better work life balance that promotes health. Meditate on how your job and employees support your life, help you create an abundant and loving home environment, and assist your spiritual mission in this incarnation.
May 7: Mercury in Aries challenges Pluto in your earned income house, and Venus in your marriage house tangles with Neptune. Your children’s needs may be at odds with your need to handle concerns at work, or you or your spouse may disagree about redecorating or an unrealistic remodeling plan. Keep your cool in all communications, as tempers could flare or others may mislead you or leave out critical information. Put off sensitive discussions and keep a low profile as you channel your energy into getting the job done at work.
May 8: The Sun and your ruler, Jupiter, in your two health houses face off against each other. Medical, nutrition, or fitness concerns may come to a head, giving you clarity or a breakthrough. You may learn vital details related to a second opinion or treatment with a specialist or therapist.
May 11: The Sun in your job house nods kindly at Pluto in your earned income house, putting your work life and prosperity in sync with your deepest values. This alignment also could bring favor from VIPs, with possible gain through a promotion or raise.
May 11 – 15: The Moon enters its balsamic phase, the “dark of the Moon” time before the new Moon. Slow down and review the past month since the new Moon that arrived on April 15. Meditate, rest, and reflect on what you want to do in the coming month. Find out more about this mysterious monthly time in my Balsamic Moon Phase article. Also, this period is excellent for spiritual work, meditation, and prayer. See my article on How To Relieve Stress – Meditate At The Right Time for details.
May 12: Mercury in your house of romance and children makes a difficult alignment with Mars in your money house. If you need to work over the weekend, a child or your current love may speak up aggressively to express displeasure. Avoid matching their anger or speaking hastily, as others won’t be receptive to forceful communications. Do your best to smooth things over for now, plan a follow up conversation later, and focus your energies on completing necessary tasks.
May 13: Mercury dances with Uranus in Aries before heading into placid Taurus. If you’re single, you may attract an admirer during a dazzling and unexpected conversation, or one of your children may surprise you with a genius idea or sage insight. Close your day with loving conversations and a meditative walk in nature to enjoy time with your own thoughts.
May 15: A big day, with a new Moon in Taurus. Also, Uranus moves into Taurus for the next seven years, and Mars changes signs, too, entering Aquarius and lighting up your communication and siblings area. The next two weeks bring your best time all year to begin a new exercise, nutrition, or health program or to start looking for a better job with more money or lining up support to garner a promotion. With Uranus in this same area, job, money, and health changes are in store, and you can leverage them into opportunities if you allow intuition to guide you.
May 16: Mars in your communication house challenges Uranus in your job house. Your words or body language may strike coworkers as overly assertive or even aggressive, or unexpected happenings on the job may raise your ire. Take care in all interactions, notice your feelings and the effect you have on others, and jot down ideas for following up after this energy passes. Put off a publicity, communication, or tech initiative until then as well.
May 18: Mercury in your work house makes a harmonious angle to Saturn in your earned income house, bringing favor from VIPs. Someone may remark on your seniority and ask you to apply your experience leading an important project, or you may hear about a new job or better opportunity in your current company that can lead to higher income. An employee may tap you for mentoring, or a work pal may sing your praises.
May 19: Venus enters Cancer in your house of shared money and links helpfully to Uranus. Unexpected developments at work could help your household income through a gift, commission, or bonus, or child support or alimony negotiations could take a favorable turn.
May 20: The Sun leaves Taurus for Gemini, energizing your seventh house of marriage, business partnerships, and contracts. Engage in wordplay with your spouse, plan a trip together, call your agent, or research an agreement with an eye toward seeking more advantageous terms. Enjoy the next month’s breezy, chatty energies.
May 22: Mercury in your health house connects subtly with Neptune and faces off against Jupiter, your ruler, in your psychology area. Your need for details about a health concern may collide with reality when it comes to completing tests or getting time with a specialist. Meditate at home to help promote calm, invoke patience in dealings with health professionals, and seek a second opinion or additional tests if necessary.
May 23: The Sun in your committed partnership house waves enthusiastically to Mars in your sibling house. Invite brothers and sisters to join you and your spouse at a charitable event or ask them over for dinner and a a night of charades or other games.
May 25: Jupiter and Neptune link with inspiration across the sky, highlighting your inner self, spiritual foundation, and solitude. Also, Pluto in your money house communicates clearly with Mercury in your job area, but Saturn, also in your money area, challenges Venus in your shared finances house. You and your partner or an ex may disagree about finances, budgets, or spending. Balance your confidence about your work and earning power with the need to maintain harmony with others and heed your soul’s guidance to make it all work out.
May 29: Another busy day, as Mercury moves into Gemini, one of the signs it rules, in your house of committed partners and agreements. Expect many more chats with your spouse, agent, and business partners, and your mind will be on fire with ideas for travel, language classes, and lectures you want to enjoy with your partner. Also, the full Moon arrives in your public image and body house, inspiring you to put your heart into taking care of your health and upgrading your image. If you’re working on a personal project that has taken time away from pleasure with your spouse, you may see a major development now or see better ways to balance your interests and relationships. This day (and the day before and day after) favor spiritual work: plan time for meditation and prayer. See my article on How To Relieve Stress – Meditate At The Right Time for details.
