May Astrology – Headline News
Your Romantic Life, Children, And Creativity
As May begins, we have just one planet in Taurus, the warm and powerful Sun, who always shines his light freely and generously to bring joy and optimism to our world.
On May 13, Mercury will join the Sun in Taurus, followed by Uranus on May 15. These three will dominate Taurus until May 20, when the Sun changes signs.
Taurus is an earth sign symbolized by the Bull, a large and calm creature who is peacefully at home in nature until provoked or placed in unfamiliar or stressful surroundings. Then it shows its temper, becoming agitated or even aggressive and potentially dangerous. The Taurus Bull reminds us we need to take it easy at times, enjoy socializing, and spend time in nature. It also teaches how something new can create stress and how easily tempers can flare when people feel forced to change. For these reasons, Taurus inspires us to seek comfort, especially when under stress or going through a significant change so we can remain sweet-tempered.
Find out more about Taurus in my article, Taurus Time: Ground Yourself Even As The World Changes. Also, you can tune in to this sign’s calm contentment and deep loyalty with The Taurus Meditation, an uplifting guided meditation.
For you, Capricorn, planets in Taurus always activate your fifth house of romance, creativity, and children. The Taurus planets can help solidify your strengths as a parent, bring steadiness to your children’s activities, and stabilize your romantic life, either with your partner or, if you’re not married, with a current love. They also may inspire you artistically, especially if you work in a creative field, because your fifth house rules what you create (including children), and Taurus loves art, beauty, and tangible expressions of our talents.
Your Job, Health, And Daily Routines
On May 20, the Sun leaves Taurus for Gemini, which will start the month of the Twins. You’ll feel the energies shift away from the earthy, steady, loyal power of Taurus to the airy, playful, curious world of Gemini. This annual change brings a refreshing breeziness after Taurus and its tendency to stay home, sit still, and indulge its senses.
For you, Capricorn, planets in Gemini revitalize your energy because they put airy chattiness and a desire to be on the go into your sixth house of health, including fitness and nutrition. This area also governs your job and how you create routines to support work success as well as wellness. As soon as the Sun enters Gemini, you may feel inspired to address a medical concern, join a gym, improve your health by bettering your cooking skills or reducing stress, or improve your work life with a better job.
Jupiter In Scorpio: Halfway Point Review
Since October 10, 2017, Jupiter has been traveling through Scorpio.
Jupiter spends 13 months in each sign, giving us a special annual theme to help focus our attention. So we’re about halfway through this cycle, making this month a perfect time to look back on how we’re doing with our current Jupiter assignment.
As the biggest planet in our solar system, Jupiter is associated with abundance, affluence, and even extravagance. Wherever Jupiter is located, we find expansion, protection, nobility, and leadership. Often, these benefits come through Jupiter’s favorite subjects: foreign people and places, overseas travel, higher education, philosophy, and large scale media (such as publishing). All these expand our horizons and our consciousness.
In Scorpio, Jupiter is taking us deep within to heal and regenerate (or release) whatever must change. It’s also helping us explore secrets, hidden passions, and spirituality as well as see the global problems that need compassion and fixing.
How well are you doing in these areas? What remains for you to explore and improve? Are you blocking abundance or joy by being stingy or judgmental?
For you, Capricorn, this is a great time to expand your contacts by mastering social media, joining a club, going to networking events, and creating solid systems to follow up on new connections.

A New Era Arrives
After seven years in Aries, the Great Awakener, Uranus, moves into earthy Taurus on May 15.
This is a major change that signals a new era for all of us. Before May 15, be sure to look back at what’s happened in your life and the world since March 2011 to honor how far you’ve come since then. See your horoscope from last month in our horoscope archives for recommendations on how to put the Uranus in Aries era into perspective so you’ll be ready for the changes starting on May 15.
Uranus is associated with electricity, lightning, and wild weather as well as genius and brilliance that come as lightning flashes of inspiration. It also brings a powerfully disruptive or even rebellious energy designed to help us change—and fast—as well as free ourselves and others and let go of the past. It carries a knack for mechanics, aeronautics, and electronics as well as anything high tech, futuristic, or visionary, from outer space and psychic research to astrology, inventions, miracles, and discoveries.
This revolutionary planet may be somewhat uncomfortable in practical Taurus, which likes tradition and resists change because it wants security. For example, Taurus rules nearly everything related to money such as cash, checkbooks, banks and bankers, profits, borrowing and spending, securities and stocks, treasuries, and financiers.
Taurus also governs cattle, copper, jewelry, art, and possessions in general. In addition, it is associated with beauty, both artistic and personal through adornment, and our response to beauty, culture, and the arts. It’s especially fond of music, singing, and sculpture.
All these areas will be ripe for change under Uranus’s watch. At the same time, however, Taurus’s energies will help us ground Uranus’s lightning bolts of genius into workable plans and simplified systems that make life easier, more comfortable, and more beautiful. That steadying force will bring some relief after Uranus’s seven years in Aries, famous for its new beginnings, which brought us a dizzying pace of technological change, countless business startups, and constant change in personal identity for many people as they tried new images and careers over and over again.
For you, Capricorn, having Uranus in Taurus will bring change related to your fertility and children, love life, sports and hobbies, and creativity because it affects your fifth house, which governs these areas. You may see sudden opportunities you’ll have to seize quickly, or you may have flashes of insight that help you move beyond old perspectives so you can get into better alignment with your spiritual nature and desire to help others.
For an in depth look at Uranus in Taurus and how it affects you (and how you can make the most of it), see my article, Uranus In Taurus. It includes a look back at the past seven years of Uranus in Aries as well as an explanation of how Uranus in Taurus is likely to manifest and details for every zodiac sign and how it will be affected by this major shift.
Plan Your Month: Important Dates In May
This month brings several key dates to watch as you plan your month. Mark your calendar and take action (or rest) as recommended on the dates listed here so your efforts can bring progress in all areas
May 1: May Day, an ancient springtime celebration in the northern hemisphere and in modern times a day to honor labor and workers. Both themes harmonize with Taurus energies, so make the day festive for yourself in some way and give thanks for nature and its beauty.
May 2: The Sun in your romance house makes a helpful link with Neptune in your sibling house, bringing an otherworldly or compassionate quality to conversations with brothers and sisters and perhaps an introduction to a new love interest. Meditate on how your siblings support your happiness and make life fun as you fulfill your spiritual missions together in this incarnation.
May 7: Mercury in Aries challenges Pluto in your personality house, and Venus in your health house tangles with Neptune. Strive for clarity in work relationships and communication and exercise care in talking with loved ones at home about a family situation or real estate concern, as they may react poorly if you come on too strong. Put off sensitive discussions and stay aware of your effect on others as you channel your powerful vitality into projects of greatest importance to you.
May 8: The Sun in your creativity and children area faces off against Jupiter in your audience and networking house. A child may face challenges, or your creative aspirations may meet resistance from someone in your network. Seek clarity, and you may have a breakthrough as you learn new data about your artistic aspirations or a child’s activities.
May 11: The Sun in your romance house nods kindly at Pluto in your personality house, giving you a chance to make a powerful impression on someone you find attractive. This alignment also could bring favor from VIPs about a pet project and potential gain or a valuable investment idea.
May 11 – 15: The Moon enters its balsamic phase, the “dark of the Moon” time before the new Moon. Slow down and review the past month since the new Moon that arrived on April 15. Meditate, rest, and reflect on what you want to do in the coming month. Find out more about this mysterious monthly time in my Balsamic Moon Phase article. Also, this period is excellent for spiritual work, meditation, and prayer. See my article on How To Relieve Stress – Meditate At The Right Time for details.
May 12: Mercury in your home and family house makes a difficult alignment with Mars in your identity and personality house. A parent or family member may challenge you or object to your desire to take charge of a situation. You may not be in a compromising mood, yet others will resist being controlled. Watch your temper or your tendency to turn cold during a disagreement and put off important conversations for now. Channel your volatile energy into exercise or working on your self-image or a personal project.
May 13: Mercury dances with Uranus in Aries before heading into placid Taurus. A family member may surprise you with an unusual insight about a home matter, or you may have a brainstorm about a decorating, remodeling, or real estate project. Close your day with a loving conversation with your child, a meditative walk in nature together to process what comes up and settle your mind, or time on a hobby or art project.
May 15: A big day, with a new Moon in Taurus. Also, Uranus moves into Taurus for the next seven years, and Mars changes signs, too, entering Aquarius and lighting up your earned income and values area. The next two weeks bring your best time all year to begin improving your parenting skills, relations with your children, your approach to life’s pleasures, and how you express your creative urges. With Uranus in this same area, changes are in store for your children and your creative life, and you can leverage them into opportunities if you allow intuition to guide you.
May 16: Mars in your earned income house challenges Uranus in your children and romance house. You may have to work extra hours, so wait until later in the month to ask a new love interest on a date, schedule time off, or make appointments involving children and put off investments in your hobbies until then as well.
May 18: Mercury in your romance house makes a harmonious angle to your ruler, Saturn, in your personality house, helping your partner or a love interest appreciate your maturity, dependability, and business savvy. Also, your children may value you more now, giving you new opportunities to share your experience with them or pass on family stories and wisdom.
May 19: Venus enters Cancer in your house of marriage and other partnerships and links helpfully to Uranus. You and your spouse may be thrilled to see signs of budding genius in a child. If you don’t have children, you may decide to conceive or seek fertility help from a leading specialist.
May 20: The Sun leaves Taurus for Gemini, energizing your sixth house of work, health, and daily living. Research nutrition, talk to coworkers about fitness ideas or gym recommendations, speak with your boss about advancement opportunities or a mentor about a new and better job, or consider adopting a pet to help reduce stress and add more joy to life. Enjoy the next month’s breezy, chatty energies.
May 22: Mercury in your pleasures house connects subtly with Neptune and faces off against Jupiter in your humanitarian area. Your highly creative ideas for a fundraiser may collide with agendas set by VIPs at your favorite charity or a club or association to which you belong. Hold compassionate thoughts regardless of what happens, trust your intuition, and call a brother or sister for support if needed. Also, wait to settle anything until you have better clarity and a calmer frame of mind.
May 23: The Sun in your children and creativity house waves enthusiastically to Mars in your earned income house. Open doors for children by bringing them in as interns for your company or business or consider turning a hobby or artistic talent into a money making proposition.
May 25: Jupiter and Neptune link with inspiration across the sky, highlighting siblings, communication, and your desires to improve the world. Also, Pluto in your personality house communicates clearly with Mercury in your children area, but your ruler, Saturn, also in your personality area, challenges Venus in your marriage house. Balance time for siblings and charity work with your spouse’s and children’s needs, perhaps by involving everyone in a special project you care deeply about. Heed your soul’s guidance to make it all work out.
May 29: Another busy day, as Mercury moves into Gemini, one of the signs it rules, in your house of work and health. Expect many more chats with employees and colleagues, and your mind will be on fire with ideas for improving your work or job as well as your fitness and nutrition. Also, the full Moon arrives in your networking and philanthropic house, inspiring you to join business associates to support a special cause or join the board of your club or an industry association. If you’re working on a volunteer project or business mixer, you may see a major development now. This day (and the day before and day after) favor spiritual work: plan time for meditation and prayer.
