May Astrology – Headline News
Your Home, Family, And Property
As May begins, we have just one planet in Taurus, the warm and powerful Sun, who always shines his light freely and generously to bring joy and optimism to our world.
On May 13, Mercury will join the Sun in Taurus, followed by your ruler, Uranus, on May 15. These three will dominate Taurus until May 20, when the Sun changes signs.
Taurus is an earth sign symbolized by the Bull, a large and calm creature who is peacefully at home in nature until provoked or placed in unfamiliar or stressful surroundings. Then it shows its temper, becoming agitated or even aggressive and potentially dangerous. The Taurus Bull reminds us we need to take it easy at times, enjoy socializing, and spend time in nature. It also teaches how something new can create stress and how easily tempers can flare when people feel forced to change. For these reasons, Taurus inspires us to seek comfort, especially when under stress or going through a significant change so we can remain sweet-tempered.
Find out more about Taurus in my article, Taurus Time: Ground Yourself Even As The World Changes. Also, you can tune in to this sign’s calm contentment and deep loyalty with The Taurus Meditation, an uplifting guided meditation.
For you, Aquarius, planets in Taurus always activate your fourth house of home, family, ancestors and heritage, and property such as land and real estate. The Taurus planets can help solidify your home situation and make you more practical about how you create a loving environment in a home base that helps you feel supported and safe. They also may inspire you to buy a home or invest in land, redecorate, or assist a parent or other close relative because Taurus appreciates tradition and long term security.
Your Children, Creativity, And Romance
On May 20, the Sun leaves Taurus for Gemini, which will start the month of the Twins. You’ll feel the energies shift away from the earthy, steady, loyal power of Taurus to the airy, playful, curious world of Gemini. This annual change brings a refreshing breeziness after Taurus and its tendency to stay home, sit still, and indulge its senses.
For you, Aquarius, planets in Gemini revitalize your relationships because they put airy chattiness and a desire to be on the go into your fifth house of true love and children. This area also governs your talents and pleasures and how you express and enjoy them. As soon as the Sun enters Gemini, you may feel inspired to take up a new sport or hobby, conceive a child, start a romance, or rekindle affections with your marriage partner.
Jupiter In Scorpio: Halfway Point Review
Since October 10, 2017, Jupiter has been traveling through Scorpio.
Jupiter spends 13 months in each sign, giving us a special annual theme to help focus our attention. So we’re about halfway through this cycle, making this month a perfect time to look back on how we’re doing with our current Jupiter assignment.
As the biggest planet in our solar system, Jupiter is associated with abundance, affluence, and even extravagance. Wherever Jupiter is located, we find expansion, protection, nobility, and leadership. Often, these benefits come through Jupiter’s favorite subjects: foreign people and places, overseas travel, higher education, philosophy, and large scale media (such as publishing). All these expand our horizons and our consciousness.
In Scorpio, Jupiter is taking us deep within to heal and regenerate (or release) whatever must change. It’s also helping us explore secrets, hidden passions, and spirituality as well as see the global problems that need compassion and fixing.
How well are you doing in these areas? What remains for you to explore and improve? Are you blocking abundance or joy by being stingy or judgmental?
For you, Aquarius, this is a great time to focus on your career and leadership and seek favors from VIPs who can help you advance professionally.

A New Era Arrives
After seven years in Aries, the Great Awakener, Uranus, your ruling planet, moves into earthy Taurus on May 15.
This is a major change that signals a new era for all of us. Before May 15, be sure to look back at what’s happened in your life and the world since March 2011 to honor how far you’ve come since then. See your horoscope from last month in our horoscope archives for recommendations on how to put the Uranus in Aries era into perspective so you’ll be ready for the changes starting on May 15.
Uranus is associated with electricity, lightning, and wild weather as well as genius and brilliance that come as lightning flashes of inspiration. It also brings a powerfully disruptive or even rebellious energy designed to help us change—and fast—as well as free ourselves and others and let go of the past. It carries a knack for mechanics, aeronautics, and electronics as well as anything high tech, futuristic, or visionary, from outer space and psychic research to astrology, inventions, miracles, and discoveries.
This revolutionary planet may be somewhat uncomfortable in practical Taurus, which likes tradition and resists change because it wants security. For example, Taurus rules nearly everything related to money such as cash, checkbooks, banks and bankers, profits, borrowing and spending, securities and stocks, treasuries, and financiers.
Taurus also governs cattle, copper, jewelry, art, and possessions in general. In addition, it is associated with beauty, both artistic and personal through adornment, and our response to beauty, culture, and the arts. It’s especially fond of music, singing, and sculpture.
All these areas will be ripe for change under Uranus’s watch. At the same time, however, Taurus’s energies will help us ground Uranus’s lightning bolts of genius into workable plans and simplified systems that make life easier, more comfortable, and more beautiful. That steadying force will bring some relief after Uranus’s seven years in Aries, famous for its new beginnings, which brought us a dizzying pace of technological change, countless business startups, and constant change in personal identity for many people as they tried new images and careers over and over again.
For you, Aquarius, having your ruler, Uranus, in Taurus will bring change related to home (including how you define it), family, parents, and real estate because it affects your fourth house, which governs these areas. You may see sudden opportunities you’ll have to seize quickly, or you may have flashes of insight that help you move beyond old perspectives so you can get into better alignment with your spiritual nature and desire to help others.
For an in depth look at Uranus in Taurus and how it affects you (and how you can make the most of it), see my article, Uranus In Taurus. It includes a look back at the past seven years of Uranus in Aries as well as an explanation of how Uranus in Taurus is likely to manifest and details for every zodiac sign and how it will be affected by this major shift.
Plan Your Month: Important Dates In May
This month brings several key dates to watch as you plan your month. Mark your calendar and take action (or rest) as recommended on the dates listed here so your efforts can bring progress in all areas.
May 1: May Day, an ancient springtime celebration in the northern hemisphere and in modern times a day to honor labor and workers. Both themes harmonize with Taurus energies, so make the day festive for yourself in some way and give thanks for nature and its beauty.
May 2: The Sun in your real estate house makes a helpful link with Neptune in your earned income house, bringing a sixth sense about buying your first home or investing in rental property. Meditate on how your ability to earn and budget supports your material prosperity as well as your spiritual foundation and inner life in this incarnation.
May 7: Mercury in Aries challenges Pluto in your spirituality house, and Venus in your romance house tangles with Neptune. Use caution in all communications and spending, especially if you’re working on a project behind the scenes or helping a child on something, as tempers may be short or children may be unclear about financial ramifications of their goals or activities. Put off decisions and sensitive discussions, stay under the radar with VIPs, and focus on progress with your own tasks.
May 8: The Sun in your home area faces off against Jupiter in your career house. Work and life balance concerns may come to a head, giving you clarity or a breakthrough. You may learn vital details related to a relative’s needs or a boss’s agenda.
May 11: The Sun in your spiritual foundation house nods kindly at Pluto in your consciousness and dreams house, giving you a chance to make progress on something related to your spiritual practice or inner development. This alignment also could bring favor from a powerful mentor behind the scenes or possible financial reward for work on a secret project or from working at home.
May 11 – 15: The Moon enters its balsamic phase, the “dark of the Moon” time before the new Moon. Slow down and review the past month since the new Moon that arrived on April 15. Meditate, rest, and reflect on what you want to do in the coming month. Find out more about this mysterious monthly time in my Balsamic Moon Phase article. Also, this period is excellent for spiritual work, meditation, and prayer. See my article on How To Relieve Stress – Meditate At The Right Time for details.
May 12: Mercury in your sibling house makes a difficult alignment with Mars in your psychology and spirituality house. A conversation with a brother or sister may irritate you or reveal that someone you least expected is working against your best interest. Exercise caution in all interactions, as others won’t be receptive to forceful communications and haste could inflame the situation. Wait to decide your next course, meditate for guidance, and pour your emotional energies into completing necessary tasks.
May 13: Mercury dances with Uranus, your ruler, in Aries before heading into placid Taurus. A sibling may dazzle you with an ingenious idea, or you may have a remarkable insight about an invention or communication project. Close your day with loving conversations with family or meditation outdoors so you can settle your mind and savor recent revelations.
May 15: A big day, with a new Moon in Taurus. Also, Uranus moves into Taurus for the next seven years, and Mars changes signs, too, entering Aquarius and lighting up your personality, public image, and health area. The next two weeks bring your best time all year to buy a home or put one on the market, start relationships with professionals to help you get a property ready to sell, research family history, help a parent, or improve your current home with new decor or remodeling. With Uranus in this same area, home and family changes are in store, and you can leverage them into opportunities if you allow intuition to guide you.
May 16: Mars in your personality house challenges Uranus in your house of home and family. Others will notice a new assertiveness in you, and you will feel in a rush to get your way or impose your will on others, yet family members may resent your approach. Wait until later in the month to broach a sensitive family or home concern and put off image makeovers and major health procedures requiring family support until then as well.
May 18: Mercury in your spiritual foundation house makes a harmonious angle to Saturn in your most private house, stabilizing and inspiring your inner life. Your meditations may become more mature and serious, or you may speak to a mentor or hire a contractor to create a meditation room in your home to support your mystical progress. This alignment also could bring approval from senior management for a work at home arrangement.
May 19: Venus enters Cancer in your house of work, health, and daily routine and links helpfully to Uranus. If you have wanted to work at home, management may be more receptive to your proposal now. Also, you may find an unusual way to balance work and home or could hear about a raise or promotion that allows you to start a modernistic decor project.
May 20: The Sun leaves Taurus for Gemini, energizing your fifth house of children and conception, creativity, and romance and pleasures. Take your children to a concert or circus, speak to your partner about having a baby if you dream of bringing a little one into your lives, research a new hobby or a creative project, or talk to VIPs who can help your artistic career. Enjoy the next month’s breezy, chatty energies.
May 22: Mercury in your home and family house connects subtly with Neptune and faces off against Jupiter in your professional area. Idealism about helping a parent financially, blending home and work, or hiring family members for your business may collide with financial reality. Exercise great caution in money discussions and wait to share ideas or put anything in writing until you have better clarity.
May 23: The Sun in your romance house waves enthusiastically to Mars in your personality house. Your sex appeal and take charge ways can attract admirers, so step out looking your best, accept all invitations, and talk to everyone you meet as romance is in the air.
May 25: Jupiter and Neptune link with inspiration across the sky, highlighting your career and earning power. Also, Pluto in your privacy house communicates clearly with Mercury in your home and family area, but Saturn, also in your privacy area, challenges Venus in your work house. Pay attention to dreams and intuition about anything related to work or money and balance coworkers’ needs with your own goals or demands from a VIP to complete a hush hush project. If you listen to your "still, small voice within," you can make it all work out harmoniously and help your bottom line and career, too.
May 29: Another busy day, as Mercury moves into Gemini, one of the signs it rules, in your house of children, art projects, and romance. Expect many more chats with youngsters and your love, as your mind will be on fire with ideas about your desire for a baby, a child’s education, or your romantic life. Also, the full Moon arrives in your networking house, inspiring you to accept an invitation to join a club or an industry association’s board or to upgrade how you make new business connections. If you’re working on a fundraiser or business event, you may see a major development now. This day (and the day before and day after) favor spiritual work: plan time for meditation and prayer.
