April will usher in formidable forces with high potential for innovation and bold initiatives. It also presents its share of challenging energies, however, thanks to some key planetary alignments and shifts.
Although we have the energies of a new season and the new spiritual year favoring a fresh start, this month will require us to wait on launching anything so we can revisit the past first.

April Astrology – Headline News
Your Health, Fitness, And Job
As April begins, we have three planets in Aries:
- The warm and powerful Sun, who always shines his light freely and generously to bring joy and optimism to our world
- Mercury, who governs thinking, communication, and commerce and brings playfulness and curiosity wherever he goes
- Uranus, who governs inspiration, technology, and electricity and brings sudden change, freedom, and a quirky quality to our lives
We also will have a fourth factor in Aries, the asteroid called Chiron, who is associated with where we feel wounded and how we heal and then help others based on our experiences. Chiron has moved through Pisces since February 8, 2011, and leaves that sign for Aries on April 17. Chiron remains there for seven years, giving all of us plenty of time to reckon with Aries and adjust how we use its power so we’re applying that force constructively.
Aries is a fire sign symbolized by the Ram, a competitive, hard charging creature who leads with his horns, rushing head first into life and ever ready to do battle. Aries drives us forward, pushing us to focus on ourselves, our energy, and our goals. This high power sign allows us to overcome inertia so we can get moving, start anything we desire (and start over at any time), and rush out in front of others in order to lead. It also inspires us to serve as spiritual warriors who inspire by setting a noble example, using leadership for constructive purposes, and channeling resources toward worthwhile goals.
Find out more about Aries in my article, Aries Time: Face Who You Really Are. Also, you can tune in to this sign’s bold, take charge energies with The Aries Meditation, an uplifting, guided meditation.
For you, Scorpio, planets in Aries always activate your sixth house of your job, health, fitness, dietary choices, and pets. All the Aries planets will boost your desire to get a better job or negotiate a winning arrangement with your current employer, hire new employees, improve your health and physical stamina, learn about nutrition to make better food choices, and enjoy life more by adopting a pet.
Your Marriage, Business Partners, And Agreements
On April 19, the Sun leaves Aries for Taurus, which will start the month of the Bull. You’ll feel the energies shift away from the fiery, take charge power of Aries to the earthy, steady world of Taurus. This annual change brings needed calm after Aries and its high octane rush.
For you, Scorpio, planets in Taurus stabilize your closest relationships because they put earthy practicality and focus into your seventh house of marriage, other committed partnerships such as with an agent, and contracts and agreements. This area also governs peace and harmony and how well you support these essential values in your one on one bonds. As soon as the Sun enters Taurus, you may spend more time with your love or review your business relationships, and you may feel inspired to work for peace or create greater harmony at home.
Mercury Retrograde Ends
Last month, our solar system’s smallest planet, Mercury, went retrograde, which it generally does three times annually for about three weeks at a time. As April begins, Mercury remains retrograde.
The retrograde will end on April 15.
Until then, avoid starting anything new, and don’t sign contracts because you won’t have all the facts. Remain flexible and slow down even though the Aries powers this month (including Mercury in Aries) are pushing you to get going.
Instead, turn the Aries forces inward by working on your spirituality and meditating. Reflect on how the retrograde has affected you and your life and how well you’ve managed any surprises or challenges it has brought. Or direct the retrograde energies outward to anything “re”: review, redo, rethink, recycle, reverse, restore, repair, reconnect, and so on.

Volatile Energies – Proceed With Caution
The Sun entered Aries last month on March 20 and remains there until April 19.
Aries brings the power needed to birth the new. Imagine the force required for a seed to sprout or a chick to break out of its shell. Or the effort needed for a new business to take hold or a new fitness regimen to become a habit.
Aries and its fiery ruler, Mars, drive us to move quickly and make things happen. They can help us compete and accomplish what seems impossible.
Yet their powers can be explosive and dangerous, as when a child too young to understand fire plays with matches or gets too close to a hot stove. As a result, as beneficial as Aries time can be, it also is associated with violent incidents throughout history.
Find out more about this pattern related to Aries time in my article, Aries And A History Of Violence.
In addition, several planets currently sit in Capricorn (including Aries’s fiery ruler, Mars). That means they are challenging all the planets now in Aries and raising the stakes. These alignments can create great good if we use them wisely to turn a corner on major problems.
The movement of Chiron, the healing asteroid, into Aries on April 17 can help us overcome the negative expressions of Aries. Chiron will move through this sign for seven years, helping us come to terms with impulsiveness, violence, inappropriate risks, and all other misuses of Aries energy.
Throughout this month, stay aware of this potential so you can avoid serious mistakes and help others do the same. Also, remember your ability to serve as a force for peace and a nurturing presence. The new and full Moons this month will bring particularly high energies, making them good times to focus on spirituality and the highest good and best outcome for all.
A New Era Coming In May – How To Get Ready
Seven years ago, Uranus left Pisces for Aries on March 11, 2011.
Uranus is the Great Awakener, the liberator, the planet that forces us to evolve by bringing sudden change as well as lightning flashes of inspiration. It helps us tap our genius so we can direct it toward helping others.
Its time in Aries has brought great challenges, especially from 2012 through 2015. In those years, Uranus made seven difficult alignments with your ruler, Pluto, in Capricorn. All of us felt powerful forces urging us to overcome obstacles, turn a corner on longstanding problems, and reinvent ourselves and our lives. We also saw these pressures on the world stage, manifesting many changes.
For you, Scorpio, Uranus in Aries has brought shakeups in your day to day life, from your job, work environment, and daily life management to your health, nutrition, fitness, and bonds with beloved pets. The connections with Pluto in Capricorn affected your communication, travel, and relationships with siblings as well.
Think back over the past seven years. How has your life changed? What have you overcome? And how have you freed yourself and struck out in bold and visionary directions?
Also, consider how much the world has changed since 2011.
This month, reflect on all that’s happened for you, your friends and family, all humanity, and our planet. Honor how much you’ve learned, achieved, and grown.
Accept any mistakes and missteps and make peace with who you’ve become so you’re ready to move on to a new stage because the Uranus in Aries era will end next month, on May 15. That’s the day Uranus heads into earthy Taurus and brings changes to all things associated with the Bull.
Next month’s horoscope will give you more details on this momentous shift. For now, get ready by looking back on the last seven years so you can gain valuable perspective and get ideas on how you want to shape the coming seven years.
Plan Your Month: Important Dates In April
This month brings several key dates to watch as you plan your month. Mark your calendar and take action (or rest) as recommended on the dates listed here so your efforts can bring progress in all areas of your life.
April 1: A stressful full Moon on March 31 may continue to reverberate, so continue spiritual efforts based on whatever came up for you. Also, retrograde Mercury joins with the Sun in your sixth house of job and health. Look back at the work you used to do and the companies you worked for. Also, reflect on how your health has changed recently. See if you’ve set aside any work habits, business connections, or health techniques that still have value.
April 2: Mars and Saturn come together in your third house of communication and siblings, empowering your speech and writing while helping you measure your tone to avoid coming on too strong. An older sibling may contact you, or a close cousin may help you reconnect with your youth by suggesting an activity or trip to a place you both enjoyed as children.
April 7: Venus in your seventh house of committed partnerships connects well with Saturn in your communication house. You may propose to your love or vice versa, or the maturity you demonstrate in your communications may win you appreciation from a business partner or interest from a new agent who wants to represent you.
April 10: The Sun in your job and wellness house challenges your ruler, Pluto, in your communication area. Watch your temper on the job and stay under the radar with bosses so you can put off challenging conversations. Instead, talk with your business or marriage partner to get ideas to research a current project and build your case for handling it your way or else indulge your passion by writing a love letter to your spouse, as Mars in your communication area connects harmoniously with Venus in your marriage house.
April 12: Venus in your house of committed partnerships links lovingly with Neptune in your creativity and children house. If you want a baby, open discussions with your partner as they may lead to a deeply spiritual yet passionate physical encounter. If you’re not attached, apply creative visualization to envision your ideal romance or potential marriage partner.
April 12 – 15: The Moon enters its balsamic phase, the "dark of the Moon" time before the new Moon. Slow down and review the past month since the new Moon that arrived on March 17. Meditate, rest, and reflect on what you want to do in the coming month. Find out more about this mysterious monthly time in my Balsamic Moon Phase article. Also, this period is excellent for spiritual work, meditation, and prayer. See my article on How To Relieve Stress – Meditate At The Right Time for details.
April 14: A helpful connection between Jupiter in your personality and image house and Pluto in your communication area can help you upgrade how others perceive you by improving your mindset or hiring a writing or speaking coach. Mars, also in your communication house, makes the same connection to Neptune in your creativity house, driving you to tap your talents, perhaps by writing a novel or article, or put more of your soul into your thoughts and words and actions.
April 15: A big day. The new Moon in Aries (and the two weeks following, until the next full Moon) normally would supply your best time all year for upgrading your job, work environment, or health. Yet Mercury ends its retrograde this day, an often stormy time that can come with surprise technical or communication issues needing resolution. Uranus sitting very close to this new Moon suggests other unforeseen developments, and four planets in Aries spar with three heavy hitters in your communication and travel area. So expect the unexpected, see what comes to a head, and wait at least two days to start anything new. See my article, Mercury Retrograde Dates, Advice, for additional guidance.
April 16: Venus in your partnership and peace area will face off with Jupiter across the sky in your personality, body and health, and personal projects house. Challenges with partners or concerns over agreements and contracts likely will surface. Wait to hold important conversations or meetings as you reflect on your best balance between individual desires and others’ needs and wishes. If necessary, hire a mediator or other professional to help you work out relationship snags.
April 17: Venus connects harmoniously with Pluto, your ruler, in your communication house, empowering you to speak up with a partner about your deepest desires, with a good chance of making your case through charm and sensitivity.
April 18: The Sun in Aries moves to an exact alignment with Uranus in the same sign. Your job or health will come to the forefront, perhaps through a sudden development at work or an opportunity to locate a top specialist or other health expert. You also may feel a need to make changes to your routine or get an inspiration to adopt a pet.
April 19: The Sun enters Taurus. Pause and see if you can feel the shift from fiery, action oriented Aries to earthy, comfortable Taurus.
April 23: Mars in your communication house links helpfully with Jupiter in your personality house. Your forceful speech or written communication will enhance your image and may earn you admiration for leadership or win you support for a personal project.
April 24: Venus moves into Gemini in your eighth house of shared money. Relationships with bankers, lenders, insurance agents, and other financial professionals can improve now, and your ability to harmonize with others can gain you favor in securing venture capital or settling an estate matter.
April 26: Mars meets Pluto, your ruler, in your communication and sibling house, empowering your mind and revving up all your communications to make you an unstoppable force in any media or publicity campaign. This alignment also may energize relationships with brothers and sisters, so handle loved ones with care because this energy can provoke disagreements if not channeled constructively.
April 29: The Sun nods fondly to Saturn in your communication house, helping you stabilize interactions with your spouse or business partner. Also, a full Moon in Scorpio lights your first house of the body and personal projects. Something related to your health, personality and character, image, or a project dearly important to you may peak around this time, and you may realize you need to make changes. Balance intense personal focus with time and kindness for partners so your life feels in harmony and you enjoy happy relationships. This day (and the day before and day after) favor spiritual work: plan time for meditation and prayer. See my article on How To Relieve Stress – Meditate At The Right Time for details.
