Happy April, Aquarius!
Aquarius: Your Month Ahead
For you, Aquarius, this month offers exciting opportunities to bring pizzazz to your communication, showcase your speaking skills, start a writing or research project, spend time with brothers and sisters or close cousins, travel, and spend time at home and with family.
April will usher in formidable forces with high potential for innovation and bold initiatives. It also presents its share of challenging energies, however, thanks to some key planetary alignments and shifts.
Although we have the energies of a new season and the new spiritual year favoring a fresh start, this month will require us to wait on launching anything so we can revisit the past first.
Read on to see how you can leverage April’s astrology to improve yourself and your life. As you do, you will expand your ability to help others.
April Astrology – Headline News
Your Communication, Travel, And Siblings
As April begins, we have three planets in Aries:
- The warm and powerful Sun, who always shines his light freely and generously to bring joy and optimism to our world
- Mercury, who governs thinking, communication, and commerce and brings playfulness and curiosity wherever he goes
- Uranus, who governs inspiration, technology, and electricity and brings sudden change, freedom, and a quirky quality to our lives
We also will have a fourth factor in Aries, the asteroid called Chiron, who is associated with where we feel wounded and how we heal and then help others based on our experiences. Chiron has moved through Pisces since February 8, 2011, and leaves that sign for Aries on April 17. Chiron remains there for seven years, giving all of us plenty of time to reckon with Aries and adjust how we use its power so we’re applying that force constructively.
Aries is a fire sign symbolized by the Ram, a competitive, hard charging creature who leads with his horns, rushing head first into life and ever ready to do battle. Aries drives us forward, pushing us to focus on ourselves, our energy, and our goals. This high power sign allows us to overcome inertia so we can get moving, start anything we desire (and start over at any time), and rush out in front of others in order to lead. It also inspires us to serve as spiritual warriors who inspire by setting a noble example, using leadership for constructive purposes, and channeling resources toward worthwhile goals.
Find out more about Aries in my article, Aries Time: Face Who You Really Are. Also, you can tune in to this sign’s bold, take charge energies with The Aries Meditation, an uplifting, guided meditation.
For you, Aquarius, planets in Aries always activate your third house of travel, siblings, and communication from thinking and writing to speaking and listening to gestures and body language to all the phones and computers and other technology you use for these activities. All the Aries planets will intensify your speech and thoughts, increase your desire to communicate, give you drive to start a new publicity or media project, inspire you to connect with siblings, and spark ideas for travel, especially by car.
Your Home And Family
On April 19, the Sun leaves Aries for Taurus, which will start the month of the Bull. You’ll feel the energies shift away from the fiery, take charge power of Aries to the earthy, steady world of Taurus. This annual change brings needed calm after Aries and its high octane rush.
For you, Aquarius, planets in Taurus stabilize your home base and sense of security because they put earthy practicality and focus into your fourth house of home and family, parents, real estate, and heritage such as genealogy. This area also governs your sense of security from a firm foundation through your home as well as essential spirituality. As soon as the Sun enters Taurus, you may wish to slow down a bit so you can enjoy your home, feel gratitude for having shelter and loved ones, and tap your inner self for guidance or contemplation.
Mercury Retrograde Ends
Last month, our solar system’s smallest planet, Mercury, went retrograde, which it generally does three times annually for about three weeks at a time. As April begins, Mercury remains retrograde.
The retrograde will end on April 15.
Until then, avoid starting anything new, and don’t sign contracts because you won’t have all the facts. Remain flexible and slow down even though the Aries powers this month (including Mercury in Aries) are pushing you to get going.
Instead, turn the Aries forces inward by working on your spirituality and meditating. Reflect on how the retrograde has affected you and your life and how well you’ve managed any surprises or challenges it has brought. Or direct the retrograde energies outward to anything “re”: review, redo, rethink, recycle, reverse, restore, repair, reconnect, and so on.

Volatile Energies – Proceed With Caution
The Sun entered Aries last month on March 20 and remains there until April 19.
Aries brings the power needed to birth the new. Imagine the force required for a seed to sprout or a chick to break out of its shell. Or the effort needed for a new business to take hold or a new fitness regimen to become a habit.
Aries and its fiery ruler, Mars, drive us to move quickly and make things happen. They can help us compete and accomplish what seems impossible.
Yet their powers can be explosive and dangerous, as when a child too young to understand fire plays with matches or gets too close to a hot stove. As a result, as beneficial as Aries time can be, it also is associated with violent incidents throughout history.
Find out more about this pattern related to Aries time in my article, Aries And A History Of Violence.
In addition, several planets currently sit in Capricorn (including Aries’s fiery ruler, Mars). That means they are challenging all the planets now in Aries and raising the stakes. These alignments can create great good if we use them wisely to turn a corner on major problems.
The movement of Chiron, the healing asteroid, into Aries on April 17 can help us overcome the negative expressions of Aries. Chiron will move through this sign for seven years, helping us come to terms with impulsiveness, violence, inappropriate risks, and all other misuses of Aries energy.
Throughout this month, stay aware of this potential so you can avoid serious mistakes and help others do the same. Also, remember your ability to serve as a force for peace and a nurturing presence. The new and full Moons this month will bring particularly high energies, making them good times to focus on spirituality and the highest good and best outcome for all.
A New Era Coming In May – How To Get Ready
Seven years ago, your ruler, Uranus, left Pisces for Aries on March 11, 2011.
Uranus is the Great Awakener, the liberator, the planet that forces us to evolve by bringing sudden change as well as lightning flashes of inspiration. It helps us tap our genius so we can direct it toward helping others.
Its time in Aries has brought great challenges, especially from 2012 through 2015. In those years, Uranus made seven difficult alignments with Pluto in Capricorn. All of us felt powerful forces urging us to overcome obstacles, turn a corner on longstanding problems, and reinvent ourselves and our lives. We also saw these pressures on the world stage, manifesting many changes.
For you, Aquarius, having your ruler, Uranus, in Aries has brought shakeups in relationships with siblings and close cousins, travel, communication, cars and others means of transport, and computer and other technology you use to keep in touch. The connections with Pluto in Capricorn affected your health, spirituality, and behind the scenes projects as well.
Think back over the past seven years. How has your life changed? What have you overcome? And how have you freed yourself and struck out in bold and visionary directions?
Also, consider how much the world has changed since 2011.
This month, reflect on all that’s happened for you, your friends and family, all humanity, and our planet. Honor how much you’ve learned, achieved, and grown.
Accept any mistakes and missteps and make peace with who you’ve become so you’re ready to move on to a new stage because the Uranus in Aries era will end next month, on May 15. That’s the day Uranus heads into earthy Taurus and brings changes to all things associated with the Bull.
Next month’s horoscope will give you more details on this momentous shift. For now, get ready by looking back on the last seven years so you can gain valuable perspective and get ideas on how you want to shape the coming seven years.
Plan Your Month: Important Dates In April
This month brings several key dates to watch as you plan your month. Mark your calendar and take action (or rest) as recommended on the dates listed here so your efforts can bring progress in all areas of your life.
April 1: A stressful full Moon on March 31 may continue to reverberate, so continue spiritual efforts based on whatever came up for you. Also, retrograde Mercury joins with the Sun in your third house of communication and brothers and sisters. If you save greeting cards or letters, look back at them for insights; otherwise, check out your email or texts for clues on how your communication is evolving, especially with siblings. Reflect on whether you’ve left behind any people or parts of your life that still have value.
April 2: Mars and Saturn come together in your twelfth house of health and spirituality, helping you use your will to make mature choices that support wellness as well as insights through dreams and meditation. Also, an older person may help you with a behind the scenes project or spiritual guidance.
April 7: Venus in your fourth house of parents connects well with Saturn in your health house. A parent or other older relative may offer a sympathetic ear to help you overcome a health concern or make a decision to enter therapy or other treatment.
April 10: The Sun in your communication house challenges Pluto in your privacy area. Stay alert in conversations and while writing or texting to avoid impulsive communication, especially with VIPs at work. Instead, focus on compassionate help for a family member or applying your will to spiritual work in the privacy of your home, as Mars in your spirituality area connects harmoniously with Venus in your home and family house.
April 12: Venus in your house of home links lovingly with Neptune in your earned income and values house. Consider whether a home business is right for you, browse for beautiful art or other items for your home, or meditate about your values and how well you express them at home and work.
April 12 – 15: The Moon enters its balsamic phase, the "dark of the Moon" time before the new Moon. Slow down and review the past month since the new Moon that arrived on March 17. Meditate, rest, and reflect on what you want to do in the coming month. Find out more about this mysterious monthly time in my Balsamic Moon Phase article. Also, this period is excellent for spiritual work, meditation, and prayer. See my article on How To Relieve Stress – Meditate At The Right Time for details.
April 14: A helpful connection between Jupiter in your career house and Pluto in your secret projects area may provide help from a mentor or other VIP who wishes to remain anonymous or bring an offer to start on a hush hush project. Mars, also in your secrecy house, makes the same connection to Neptune in your earned income and values house, driving you to practice discretion on the job and walk your talk when it comes to your spiritual values.
April 15: A big day. The new Moon in Aries (and the two weeks following, until the next full Moon) normally would supply your best time all year for starting a communication campaign, enrolling in a writing class or starting a novel, investing in new technology, or connecting with brothers and sisters. Yet Mercury ends its retrograde this day, an often stormy time that can come with surprise technical or communication issues needing resolution. Uranus, your ruler, sitting very close to this new Moon suggests other unforeseen developments, and four planets in Aries spar with three heavy hitters in your health, spirituality, and privacy area. So expect the unexpected, see what comes to a head, and wait at least two days to start anything new. See my article, Mercury Retrograde Dates, Advice, for additional guidance.
April 16: Venus in your home and family area will face off with Jupiter across the sky in your career house. Work life balance concerns, especially related to spending at home or excessive optimism about your career or a demanding work schedule, likely will surface. You and your family may need to revisit how all of you can live a more well rounded life. Wait to hold family discussions so you can think about what you truly want and investigate what others desire. Consider scheduling a couple of family therapy sessions to help come to agreement and better balance.
April 17: Venus connects harmoniously with Pluto in your health house, suggesting you have an opportunity for powerful healing through home based care or a breakthrough with a therapist about concerns related to your childhood or family.
April 18: The Sun in Aries moves to an exact alignment with Uranus in the same sign. A surprising development related to technology, travel, or communication may come your way. You also may hear from a cousin you had lost touch with or a brother or sister who has news.
April 19: The Sun enters Taurus. Pause and see if you can feel the shift from fiery, action oriented Aries to earthy, comfortable Taurus.
April 23: Mars in your discretion house links helpfully with Jupiter in your career house. Your ability to keep information confidential for top brass will earn you trust and perhaps a promotion or other big opportunity for advancement.
April 24: Venus moves into Gemini in your fifth house of romance and creativity. Your ability to attract admirers can soar, especially through seductive words or loving gestures. If you work in the arts or have a passion for a hobby, your creative mojo will have you working on your next masterpiece or making connections with people who can help publicize your work.
April 26: Mars meets Pluto in your spirituality house, bringing new power to dreams and spiritual riches through meditation. Make time for solitude and use this tremendous power wisely to visualize happy transformation and splendid outcomes for yourself and others.
April 29: The Sun nods fondly to Saturn in your health house, helping you create a more pleasing home workout routine or meditation practice and stick to it. Also, a full Moon in Scorpio lights your tenth house of career. Something related to your job, long range career plans, company, boss, or community standing may peak around this time, and you may realize you need to make changes. Balance career concerns with reflection on home and family so you maintain a firm personal foundation and good relationships with loved ones. This day (and the day before and day after) favor spiritual work: plan time for meditation and prayer. See my article on How To Relieve Stress – Meditate At The Right Time for details.
