In fact, March 2018 arrives with more complex energies than usual.
For you, Gemini, this month favors you with excellent opportunities to step up in your career, earn awards or honors, or achieve new standing in your community as well as make new friends and business connections.
Read on to see what lies ahead—and how you can make March’s potential work for you.
March Astrology – Headline News
As March begins, we have four planets in Pisces:
- The warm and powerful Sun, who always shines his light freely and generously to bring joy and optimism to our world
- Mercury, who governs thinking, communication, and commerce and brings playfulness and curiosity wherever he goes
- Venus, who governs love, beauty, and relationships—as well as money—and brings grace and sophistication to whatever she touches
- Neptune, who rules Pisces and governs dreams, the arts, and transcendent spirituality—and brings compassion, sensitivity, and an otherworldly quality to our lives
We also have a fifth player in Pisces, an asteroid called Chiron who is associated with where we feel wounded and how we heal and then help others based on our experiences. Chiron is well placed in Pisces, which is one of the signs associated with health.
Pisces is a water sign symbolized by the Fish: two fish swimming in opposite directions while bound together. Pisces helps us go beyond our individuality by enabling spiritual attunement, higher consciousness, and merging with creation’s essential unity. This gentle, sensitive sign allows us to sense higher truths through dreams and intuition. It also encourages us to apply these truths to help others through selfless service as well as inspire them through the arts, fantasy and other escapes from everyday life, and spiritual practices such as meditation.

For you, Gemini, Pisces always activates your tenth house of career, public honors and awards, community standing, and personal legacy. All the Pisces planets will inspire new ideas to expand your career, enhance your ability to serve others in your community, and attract recognition for your achievements as well as consider how you can leave a legacy in some way.
Your Friends And Business Associates
On March 5, your ruler, Mercury, will leave Pisces for Aries, followed by Venus’s entry into Aries on March 6. You’ll begin to feel the energies shift away from the watery, emotional realm of Pisces toward the fiery, "let’s get going" arena of Aries. On March 20, the Sun leaves Pisces for Aries, giving us the official start to the month of the Ram.
For you, Gemini, planets in Aries rev up your wish to be out and about because they put fiery passion into your eleventh house of friendship, clubs, business associates, and networking events. This area also governs humanitarian efforts: as soon as the Sun enters Aries, you may feel deep desires to volunteer or donate to a cause to make the world a better place.
Equinox: Happy New (Spiritual And Astrological) Year!
The third week of March not only starts a new astrological month and sign but brings a new season: spring in the northern hemisphere and fall in the southern hemisphere.
Both seasons start when the amount of daylight equals the amount of darkness, making day and night last the same amount of time. Their start days come when the Sun enters Aries and when it enters the opposite sign, Libra, and are called the equinoxes. Both equinoxes offer special energies that support spirituality and meditation.
Aries, however, brings yet another gift: as the first sign of the zodiac, it starts the astrological year. According to sages and mystics, Aries also starts a new spiritual year. That makes March 20 even more powerful and important, and you can use its energies to create a new start for yourself.
Mercury Retrograde: Slow Down, Focus On "Re," Stay Flexible
Two days later, on March 22, our solar system’s smallest planet, Mercury, goes retrograde for three weeks, until April 15. From our vantage point on Earth, it will look like Mercury is moving backwards in the sky. Although it won’t actually be moving in reverse, this Mercury retrograde period will feel like all that is associated with Mercury will be in low gear or moving backwards.
As a Gemini, you feel Mercury retrograde keenly because Mercury rules your sign. Do be gentle with yourself at this time. Turning inward for spiritual nourishment can help you overcome any fuzziness or frustrations.
Mercury rules everything related to communication, from computers and cell phones to speaking, writing, and listening. It also governs anything with moving parts, such as electronics, cars, and appliances.
When Mercury goes retrograde, generally three times a year for three weeks at a time, the areas it rules also slow down and often experience challenges.
This retrograde occurs in Aries, a fire sign that can be impulsive and impatient because it wants to go, go, GO! So we’ll feel a "push-pull" quality of wanting to keep pushing forward yet not being able to make much progress because communication and equipment may slow, break down, or pull us back to review past projects or problems.
Prepare now by backing up your computer and other devices and updating software in the first week of March. After that, you’ll begin to feel the slowdown and may see issues arise with equipment or interactions with other people.
During the retrograde, allow yourself to slow down. Avoid starting anything new, and don’t sign contracts because you won’t have all the facts or will miss something critical and have to rework the agreement later.
Instead, focus on anything "re": review, redo, rethink, recycle, reverse, restore, and so on. This is an excellent time to dust off a past project or idea and see what you can make of it. It’s also the perfect time to contact people from the past, clean closets, polish current work, or return to anything—or anywhere—you once enjoyed.

Plan Your Month: Important Dates
This month brings several key dates to watch as you plan your month. Mark your calendar and take action (or rest) as recommended on the dates listed here so your efforts can bring progress in all areas of your life.
March 1: A full Moon in Virgo lights your fourth house of home and family, real estate, parents, and your ancestry and spiritual roots. Something will peak around this time for you or a relative, and you may realize you need to move, offer more help to a parent, or improve your home in some way. Balance time at home with time for your career or community so the support you receive from loved ones can flower in your contributions to others beyond your family. This day (and the day before and day after) favor spiritual work: plan time for meditation and prayer. See my article on How To Relieve Stress – Meditate At The Right Time for details.
March 2: Your ruler, Mercury, in your powerful, public tenth house forms a harmonious angle with Jupiter in your sixth house of health, work, and service. Improve your health by applying your most idealistic thoughts and beliefs for greater harmony and balance between your work and personal lives. Also, see how you can leverage your leadership to serve others on a bigger scale.
March 4: The Sun joins with Neptune and your ruler, Mercury, merges with Venus, all in your professional tenth house. Bring beauty to your work space with art, invite colleagues to a dance recital, or consider how your company could expand its support for the arts. Meditate on your career and the legacy you want to leave.
March 5 and 6: Mercury and Venus leave Pisces for Aries. Feel your thoughts and emotions begin to shift from introspection to outward action.
March 8: Jupiter goes retrograde until July 10. This giant, optimistic planet entered Scorpio on October 10, 2017, bringing expansion to your house of health, work, daily routines, and pets. Perhaps you adopted an animal from a shelter, started an exciting fitness program, or assumed new duties on the job. With the retrograde, you have four months to review your health and how well it enables you to do your work, manage your life, and serve others. Consider changes or improvements if needed.
March 11: Mars makes a helpful angle with Uranus in Aries, while the Sun nods benevolently to Pluto. Asking your spouse or business partner to take the lead on a charitable project can expand your joint network, and contacting a powerful venture capitalist or banker could bring financial support to expand your business.
March 13: The Sun in your professional tenth house links to Jupiter in your health and work house, inspiring you to think bigger and more idealistically about your career potential and create joyful health and work routines that will serve you well over the long term.
March 13 – 17: The Moon enters its balsamic phase, the "dark of the Moon" time before the new Moon. Slow down, review the past month since the new Moon of February 15, and enjoy a bit of daydreaming about what you want to do in the coming month. This period is excellent for spiritual work, meditation, and prayer. Find out more about this mysterious monthly time in my Balsamic Moon Phase article. Also, this period is excellent for spiritual work, meditation, and prayer. See my article on How To Relieve Stress – Meditate At The Right Time for details.
March 17: A new Moon in Pisces brings your best time all year to accept a promotion, start a new job, apply for an award, or take on a leadership position in your community. Also, Mars leaves expansive Sagittarius for earthy Capricorn in your shared finances and deep mysteries house, firing up your will to obtain vital venture capital, resolve an alimony or child custody concern, update your will or settle an inheritance, or begin a program of deep meditation and spiritual study.
March 20: The Sun enters Aries, bringing a new astrological month, a new season, the spring equinox (fall equinox in the southern hemisphere), and a new spiritual year. Make time to meditate on this highly significant day and feel the joyful energy of new beginnings as the Sun lights up Aries. This "power day" offers natural energies supporting spiritual work and planning for the year ahead.
March 22: Mercury goes retrograde in Aries. Use your powerful thoughts to overcome impatience and let yourself slow down, review relationships with friends and business associates, assess club and professional memberships, and consider your volunteer work and charitable giving. Wait until April 17 or later to sign contracts or start anything new. Get details on making the most of this period in my Mercury Retrograde Dates, Advice article.
March 23 and 24: Venus and the Sun in Aries make difficult alignments with Pluto and Mars in your joint money house. A friend’s request for help may raise financial concerns at home, or bankers or financiers may question or veto a humanitarian or charitable activity your company supports. Keep a low profile, avoid disputes, and put off making promises or decisions. If someone provokes you, stay calm, listen to what’s really being said between the lines, and wait to respond until you have more facts.
March 28: Venus links happily with Uranus in Aries. You may have a brainstorm about an arts related fundraiser, or if your work involves public speaking or performance, your brilliant presentation will garner applause.
March 30: Venus leaves Aries for earthy Taurus, one of the signs she rules. Time to yourself will beckon, so make time for solitude and spirituality, indulge your artistic talents as a form of meditation, and consider a spa retreat to recharge yourself on all planes.
March 31: A second full Moon this month arrives, this time in Libra. Something related to your creativity, self-expression, romantic life, or children will peak and give you clarity. This full Moon makes stressful alignments with several planets in your joint financial house as well as the Sun and your ruler, Mercury, in your friendship, clubs, and charities house. Be cautious with these volatile energies, as hasty speech or actions could affect your financial future, a friendship or love interest, or a professional membership. Time spent on current work projects, organizing closets, or inventorying collectibles or valuables can act as safety valves to channel these powerful energies constructively. Also, remember that full Moons (and the day before and day after) favor spiritual work, so plan time for meditation and prayer.
As you can see, March is filled with high contrast—and wave after wave of high energies. Use the guidance here to ride this month’s waves so you can reach April’s shore with pride in how you handled March’s challenges and made the most of its many opportunities.
Happy March, Gemini! I wish you a wonderful month!
