In fact, March 2018 arrives with more complex energies than usual.
For you, Pisces, this month showers you with opportunities to enjoy your health and body, refresh your image, and polish your personality as well as attend to money matters and personal values and possessions.

March Astrology – Headline News
Your Health, Personality, And Personal Projects
As March begins, we have four planets in Pisces:
- The warm and powerful Sun, who always shines his light freely and generously to bring joy and optimism to our world
- Mercury, who governs thinking, communication, and commerce and brings playfulness and curiosity wherever he goes
- Venus, who governs love, beauty, and relationships—as well as money—and brings grace and sophistication to whatever she touches
- Neptune, who rules Pisces and governs dreams, the arts, and transcendent spirituality—and brings compassion, sensitivity, and an otherworldly quality to our lives
We also have a fifth player in Pisces, an asteroid called Chiron who is associated with where we feel wounded and how we heal and then help others based on our experiences. Chiron is well placed in Pisces, which is one of the signs associated with health.
Pisces is a water sign symbolized by the Fish: two fish swimming in opposite directions while bound together. Pisces helps us go beyond our individuality by enabling spiritual attunement, higher consciousness, and merging with creation’s essential unity. This gentle, sensitive sign allows us to sense higher truths through dreams and intuition. It also encourages us to apply these truths to help others through selfless service as well as inspire them through the arts, fantasy and other escapes from everyday life, and spiritual practices such as meditation.

For you, Pisces, planets in your sign always activate your first house of physical incarnation: the body you live in, your health, your personality and character, and the activities dearly important to you individually. All the Pisces planets will increase your compassion and idealism and inspire and energize you to improve health, evolve your habits so your character sets a fine example, apply your personality and image in altruistic ways, and start projects that uplift others and serve the highest good.
Your Money And Values
On March 5, Mercury will leave Pisces for Aries, followed by Venus’s entry into Aries on March 6. You’ll begin to feel the energies shift away from the watery, emotional realm of Pisces toward the fiery, "let’s get going" arena of Aries. On March 20, the Sun leaves Pisces for Aries, giving us the official start to the month of the Ram.
For you, Pisces, planets in Aries ignite your earning power and stimulate desire to focus on budgets and possessions because they put fiery passion into your second house of earned income, portable possessions and valuables such as jewelry, and managing your wealth and resources. This area also governs your values and how well they align with your livelihood: as soon as the Sun enters Aries, you may feel an urge to make changes that better reflect your ideals.
Equinox: Happy New (Spiritual And Astrological) Year!
The third week of March not only starts a new astrological month and sign but brings a new season: spring in the northern hemisphere and fall in the southern hemisphere.
Both seasons start when the amount of daylight equals the amount of darkness, making day and night last the same amount of time. Their start days come when the Sun enters Aries and when it enters the opposite sign, Libra, and are called the equinoxes. Both equinoxes offer special energies that support spirituality and meditation.
Aries, however, brings yet another gift: as the first sign of the zodiac, it starts the astrological year. According to sages and mystics, Aries also starts a new spiritual year. That makes March 20 even more powerful and important, and you can use its energies to create a new start for yourself.
Mercury Retrograde: Slow Down, Focus On "Re," Stay Flexible
Two days later, on March 22, our solar system’s smallest planet, Mercury, goes retrograde for three weeks, until April 15. From our vantage point on Earth, it will look like Mercury is moving backwards in the sky. Although it won’t actually be moving in reverse, this Mercury retrograde period will feel like all that is associated with Mercury will be in low gear or moving backwards.
Mercury rules everything related to communication, from computers and cell phones to speaking, writing, and listening. It also governs anything with moving parts, such as electronics, cars, and appliances.
When Mercury goes retrograde, generally three times a year for three weeks at a time, the areas it rules also slow down and often experience challenges.
This retrograde occurs in Aries, a fire sign that can be impulsive and impatient because it wants to go, go, GO! So we’ll feel a "push-pull" quality of wanting to keep pushing forward yet not being able to make much progress because communication and equipment may slow, break down, or pull us back to review past projects or problems.
Prepare now by backing up your computer and other devices and updating software in the first week of March. After that, you’ll begin to feel the slowdown and may see issues arise with equipment or interactions with other people.
During the retrograde, allow yourself to slow down. Avoid starting anything new, and don’t sign contracts because you won’t have all the facts or will miss something critical and have to rework the agreement later.
Instead, focus on anything "re": review, redo, rethink, recycle, reverse, restore, and so on. This is an excellent time to dust off a past project or idea and see what you can make of it. It’s also the perfect time to contact people from the past, clean closets, polish current work, or return to anything—or anywhere—you once enjoyed.

Plan Your Month: Important Dates
This month brings several key dates to watch as you plan your month. Mark your calendar and take action (or rest) as recommended on the dates listed here so your efforts can bring progress in all areas of your life.
March 1: A full Moon in Virgo lights your seventh house of committed partnerships, including marriage, business advisors, and agreements. Something will peak around this time for you or a partner, and you may realize you need to improve your relationship or adjust how much you focus on yourself versus others. Balance time with your partner and other people with time alone and periods to work on personal interests so your life feels well rounded and you have something interesting to offer in all relationships. This day (and the day before and day after) favor spiritual work: plan time for meditation and prayer. See my article on How To Relieve Stress – Meditate At The Right Time for details.
March 2: Mercury in your health and personality house forms a harmonious angle with Jupiter in your international and education house. Contact a friend from overseas, submit an article or story idea to a health program or publication, or resolve an immigration or visa concern.
March 4: The Sun joins with your ruler, Neptune, and Mercury merges with Venus, all in your first house of personality and body. Consider how others perceive your personality and strive to use it to express higher spiritual love. Give thanks for your body and treat it well with a makeover, dance classes, or a yoga or spa retreat.
March 5 and 6: Mercury and Venus leave Pisces for Aries. Feel your thoughts and emotions begin to shift from introspection to outward action.
March 8: Jupiter goes retrograde until July 10. This giant, optimistic planet entered Scorpio on October 10, 2017, bringing expansion to your ninth house—Jupiter’s natural home—which covers all things that expand you and your world such as international people and things, travel, education, beliefs, and broadcasting. Perhaps you took a long journey since then, or you may have hired a jovial foreign expert or appeared on television or radio. With the retrograde, you have four months to review your international ties and concerns, education and philosophy, and publicity and promotional campaigns. Consider changes or improvements if needed.
March 11: Mars makes a helpful angle with Uranus in Aries, while the Sun nods benevolently to Pluto. Taking initiative in your career can help your earning ability significantly, and powerful nonprofit or networking connections may help you polish your image or jumpstart a project dear to your heart.
March 13: The Sun in first house of personality and health links to Jupiter in your international and education house, inspiring you to travel to distant shores for a learning adventure or to find a top academic expert to help with a health concern.
March 13 – 17: The Moon enters its balsamic phase, the "dark of the Moon" time before the new Moon. Slow down, review the past month since the new Moon of February 15, and enjoy a bit of daydreaming about what you want to do in the coming month. Find out more about this mysterious monthly time in my Balsamic Moon Phase article. Also, this period is excellent for spiritual work, meditation, and prayer. See my article on How To Relieve Stress – Meditate At The Right Time for details.
March 17: A new Moon in Pisces brings your best time all year for a makeover or to upgrade your personality, turn over a new leaf to improve health, or start a personally meaningful initiative. Also, Mars leaves expansive Sagittarius for earthy Capricorn in your friends and business associates house, firing up your desire to get out and network or schedule fun with friends and giving you the energy to volunteer, plan business mixers, or organize your contacts or customer relationship management systems.
March 20: The Sun enters Aries, bringing a new astrological month, a new season, the spring equinox (fall equinox in the southern hemisphere), and a new spiritual year. Make time to meditate on this highly significant day and feel the joyful energy of new beginnings as the Sun lights up Aries. This "power day" offers natural energies supporting spiritual work and planning for the year ahead.
March 22: Mercury goes retrograde in Aries. Use your powerful thoughts to overcome impatience and let yourself slow down, assess your financial situation and any needed improvements, review your values, and inventory or organize your possessions or closets so you understand how many resources you really have. Wait until April 17 or later to sign contracts or start anything new. Get details on making the most of this period in my Mercury Retrograde Dates, Advice article.
March 23 and 24: Venus and the Sun in Aries make difficult alignments with Pluto and Mars in your networking, clubs, friends, and charity house. Your desire to balance work with volunteering or cap your donations may feel at odds with demands from older or powerful people at a nonprofit or within your company. Keep a low profile and avoid disputes or making assumptions. If your plans hit snags, take a break to clear your head, and if someone challenges you, remain calm and gather facts before responding.
March 28: Venus links happily with Uranus in Aries. Hunches about an item’s hidden value may pay off if you’re looking for antiques or art. Also, you may have a creative brainstorm about how to earn more money or better align personal values with work.
March 30: Venus leaves Aries for Taurus. Others will notice your charming conversation, and your persuasive ability will soar. Call prospective clients or donors, write solicitation emails or letters, or plan your next marketing campaign.
March 31: A second full Moon this month arrives, this time in Libra. Something related to shared finances such as a mortgage, loan, or child support will peak and give you clarity, or you may receive a lump sum through a gift, inheritance, or commission. This full Moon makes stressful alignments with several planets in your friendship and charitable house as well as the Sun and Mercury in your earned income and possessions house. Be cautious with these volatile energies, as hasty speech or actions could affect your finances, job or bonus, child support, business associates, networking, or friends. Time spent with children or enjoying romance, creative projects, or artistic people and places can act as safety valves to channel these powerful energies constructively. Also, remember that full Moons (and the day before and day after) favor spiritual work, so plan time for meditation and prayer.
As you can see, March is filled with high contrast—and wave after wave of high energies. Use the guidance here to ride this month’s waves so you can reach April’s shore with pride in how you handled March’s challenges and made the most of its many opportunities.
In addition to all these dates, Pisces, your birthday arrives at this time of year. If your special day came in February, I hope you enjoyed a wonderful celebration. And if it comes in March, may your plans to honor the day fill you with happiness.
Did you know that you begin a new cycle as of your birthday? Your personal new year starts on your birthday every year, giving you 365 days to grow more fully into your personality and your purpose.
Along with cake and candles and whatever traditions you enjoy, take time around your birthday to look back at the past year and reflect on how well you lived up to your best self. Notice any patterns, too: are there particular times of year that seem to be more challenging, year after year, or times that always feel wonderful? With awareness, you can plan ahead to manage challenges more smoothly and savor good times fully.
Also, the first part of your personal new year brings powerful energies for starting anything you wish. Focus your brilliant mind on what most inspires you right now and take the first step…and then the next…and so on. Use this time’s momentum to begin realizing at least one of your fondest hopes or wishes.
Happy March, Pisces! And a very happy birthday to you! I wish you a wonderful month!
