Happy February, Libra!
Libra: Your Month Ahead
Every year at this time, genius ideas inspire us, thanks to strong Aquarius energies. Aquarius helps us feel electrified and brilliant, and for you, Libra, that means new opportunities for romance, parties, and fun with children.
This time of year also increases your creativity in the arts or a hobby, allowing you to feel the deep joy that comes from expressing your gifts and talents.
If you tune in to this month’s potential, you may seize lightning in a bottle. Read on to see how.
Spotlight On Friends, Charities, And Romance
On February 1, you probably will feel aftereffects from the January 31 eclipse and the dramatic full Moon in Leo that arrived at 7:28 a.m. U.S. central time (1:28 p.m. Greenwich time).
Full Moons carry great power: the Sun and Moon sit as far as possible from each other and face off across the zodiac, and this alignment often feels like we’re pulled in two conflicting directions. At every full Moon, our job is to balance the two signs involved, and when the full Moon includes an eclipse our work feels even more urgent.
When the full Moon involves the signs Aquarius and Leo, we’re pulled between thought and feeling. So make sure you’re balancing your head (Aquarius) with your heart (Leo), and cool detachment with warmhearted sincerity.
For you, Libra, this energetic polarity may spark changes in your eleventh house of friendship, networking, and charitable activities as well as your fifth house of romance, children, creativity, and speculation through stock investments. With a lunar eclipse involved, you may have seen something end in one of these areas, and with Leo activated it may have felt extra intense and emotional.
If something from the past reached closure at this time, let it go so you’re ready for what comes next. Make time for solitude and spirituality, too: whatever happened at the full Moon and eclipse, visualize a peaceful and happy future that benefits everyone.
Romance, Children, And Creativity News
Aquarian themes will continue to dominate the first part of this month, bringing exciting energy to your fifth house of romance, creativity, and children. As of February 1, we have several planets in Aquarius:
- The warm and powerful Sun, which always shines its light freely and generously to bring joy and optimism to our world
- Mercury, who governs thinking and communication and becomes supercharged in Aquarius
- The Moon’s south node, a special location in the heavens that points us toward past efforts and experiences as well as the knowledge and talents from that time that we bring into the present.
- Venus, who governs love, beauty, and relationships—as well as money—and brings grace and sophistication to whatever she touches
As of February 10, Venus heads into Pisces, but on February 13 at 9:13 a.m. (3:13 p.m. Greenwich time), the sensitive Moon will join the other planets in Aquarius. So by mid-month, you’ll have three planets and the Moon’s node—point of past accomplishments—in this sign and pressing you to take action on anything related to a love relationship, your artistic projects, your children, or perhaps your stock portfolio.
You’ll also feel more inspired to enjoy pleasures and joys and energized to express yourself creatively. Make time to write, paint, dance, or make music and see how you can use your unique gifts to bring out what’s inside you to uplift other people as well as yourself.
Aquarius gives us the quirky inventor, the genius, the one who marches to the beat of a different drummer.
Aquarius is ruled by the eccentric planet Uranus, which has a tipped rotational axis that causes it to spin on its side. Just imagine how things would appear if you looked at them sideways! Wherever you have Aquarius in your chart—and its ruler, Uranus—you have the potential to catch lightning a bottle because this sign and its planet carry associations with electricity and lightning and their equivalent on the inner plane: sudden "knowing" that comes like a bolt of lightning.
Aquarius’s symbol is the Water Bearer, an androgynous being who freely pours out the waters of wisdom and insight to all. Despite the water in this symbol, Aquarius is an air sign: that’s why it’s so smart and tends to live in its head. That’s also why it can be so cool and detached.
During Aquarius time each year, that’s exactly what we need to do: look at things differently—and cultivate tolerance. We also need to pay attention to sudden inspirations that come through hunches, intuition, and "eureka!" moments. Spiritually, we’re meant to harness those inspirations somehow to help and inspire others.
Where Your Genius Happens
For you, Libra, the Sun, Mercury and south node as well as your ruler, Venus, and the new Moon in Aquarius are activating inner genius in your fifth house of children, creativity, romance, and pleasure.
If you’re unattached and want to be in a relationship, these energies can help you. Accept all invitations, look your best every time you leave the house, and chat with everyone you meet—even on elevators and while shopping. You may meet someone who intrigues you with unusual ideas and may become a love interest.
If you’re in a committed relationship, you can use this energy to have more fun together and may enjoy going to arts events, lectures, or documentary films. If you’ve wanted to have a child, the planets in Aquarius can help you make that happen; if you have children, you’ll focus more on them and enjoy their activities now.
Also, your fifth house rules your life’s joys through pleasurable pastimes, love, and creative passions. You may meet someone who helps you redefine what joy means to you, start a new creative partnership or alliance, or receive insights to help you invent a new art form or create something to help others. Use your meditation time to focus on your talents and how you can use them to serve others through your self-expression.
Your Romance, Children, And Creativity
February brings you many opportunities to enjoy more romance and pleasures of all kinds such as parties, performing, and hobbies. If you have wanted to conceive a child, you also may make progress related to a fertility concern; if you already have children, you may find new ways to enjoy time with them.
On February 6, your ruler, Venus, in your fifth house of romance and joy will connect with Uranus in your marriage and partnership house. You may become serious about someone you’re dating or receive a surprise proposal. If you’re in a relationship, you will feel more loving toward your partner and can suggest new adventures that engage your passions. If you’re in a creative field, your talents will shine, and your partner or a business advisor may support your work with out of the box ideas.
A few days later, on February 10, Venus leaves your creativity and children house to enter your sixth house of health, work, and daily life. You may feel happier at work and socialize more with coworkers, and your talents will attract attention.
On the 13th, the Sun will talk to Uranus in your seventh house of marriage, partnerships, and alliances, again giving opportunities to receive help from your partner with your children or in a creative project. You also may come up with an unusual idea for celebrating Mardi Gras today.
The next day, celebrate Valentine’s Day by taking your special someone out on a date, preferably something different from what you usually do. If you aren’t in a relationship, enjoy lunch with a business partner, create a memorable holiday with the children in your life, or attend an elegant arts event.
On February 15—and for the week and half afterward—you can tap success by starting anything new related to children (such as conceiving a child), romance, and arts projects and hobbies once the new Moon arrives in brilliant Aquarius at 3:06 p.m. U.S. central time (9:06 p.m. Greenwich time). A solar eclipse comes just minutes before that—and the day brings harmonious angles between Mercury in your creativity house with Uranus in your partnership and marriage house and between your special planet, Venus, in your work and health house and Saturn in your house of home. You may balance work and home more successfully now, and a casual conversation with a creative contact could land you a contract with a new agent, publicist, or business advisor.
On the 17th, this theme continues with the Sun and Mercury coming together in your creativity, romance, and children area for a final burst of thought provoking inspiration as well as potential to meet a new love or possible new contracts or connections related to your children, hobbies, or an artistic project.
On February 18, energies shift to Pisces, as the Sun leaves Aquarius for the sign of the Fish. Feel the change from air to water, from electricity to "see in the dark" intuition. Pisces always activates your sixth house, where you focus on your job, health, and how you organize daily life. Make health appointments, review adjustments that could improve your day to day life, and explore holistic nutrition and fitness options that inspire you spiritually such as yoga or tai chi.
You’ll have additional support in these areas February 21 when your ruling planet, Venus, waltzes with Neptune in Pisces to bring deep love to your daily life, followed by Mercury’s meet up with Neptune on February 23 to spark mystical thoughts or visions. Ground your ideas in something to help others, as the Sun and Saturn will bless practical efforts related to service.
Balance: Your Key To Well Being
This month’s powerful, electrical energy from Aquarius can overstimulate our minds and nervous systems. That can feel exciting for a while, yet it can leave us drained, too.
This time of year, it’s vital to care for our health so we can be open to Aquarius’s wonderful insights—without burning out.
Also, you already may feel a bit depleted: Aquarius time comes after the Capricorn time of year, a sober period when we feel conscientious and work very hard. We began January with four planets in heavy duty Capricorn, and by mid-month we had two more for a total of six. If you worked extra hours and felt overloaded by responsibilities, that’s not a surprise.
That’s why it’s key to balance outward action with inner reflection and rest.
Plan Your Life With Astrology: When To Pause
You can plan your life with astrology by building in time to pause. Each month, the planets bring regular times that favor slowing down and reflecting:
- The full Moon brings a natural time to pause. Energies peak, insights and "aha" moments arrive, and we need time to process sudden news—and sometimes major changes. This year, February contains no full Moons, although two powerful ones bookend it: the Leo full Moon on January 31 and the Virgo full Moon on March 1. So the first and last days of February give us natural times to pause and reflect.
- The two weeks after the monthly full Moon are the time when nature gradually eases back because the Moon is waning (the portion that’s lit in the night sky grows smaller and smaller). From February 1 through 14, you’ll feel this easing energy grow, so pause and reflect at some point each day.
- The best time to pause each month comes during the three days before the new Moon. Called the balsamic Moon, this period shows us a Moon with little to no light because it’s a tiny sliver in the sky. This lack of light reminds us to stop temporarily to rest, reflect, and take care of ourselves. This month’s balsamic Moon arrives at 12:34 p.m. U.S. central time (6:34 p.m. Greenwich time) on February 11 and lasts until the new Moon on February 15 at 3:06 p.m. U.S. central time (9:06 p.m. Greenwich time). Plan Your Month: Important Dates
This month brings several key dates to watch as you plan your month. Mark your calendar and take action (or rest) as recommended on the dates listed here, as your efforts can bring impressive progress now.
February 1: High energies from yesterday’s full Moon in Leo and total lunar eclipse carry into today. Make time for your spiritual life: the full Moon and the day before and day after favor meditation, visualization, and prayer.
February 2: The "cross quarter day" called Groundhog Day, Imbolc, or Candlemas. We’re halfway through the current season (winter in the northern hemisphere, summer in the southern hemisphere): review the past six weeks and revisit your meditations, reflections, and revelations from the Solstice on December 21.
February 6: Your ruler, Venus, in Aquarius in a helpful angle to Uranus, Aquarius’s electric blue ruler. Get out and meet new people.
February 10: At 5:21 p.m. U.S. central time (11:21 p.m. Greenwich time), lovely Venus moves into Pisces, a sign she adores visiting. Go to a dance recital, concert, or art museum or pull out your art supplies to create a dream-inspired masterpiece. Meditate on the meaning of love, connect with your muse, or meet with someone in the arts. Venus graces this place for a full month, so fill your social, cultural, and artistic calendar for the coming weeks.
February 11 – 15: The balsamic Moon arrives at 12:34 p.m. U.S. central time (6:34 p.m. Greenwich time) on February 11 and lasts until the new Moon on February 15 at 3:06 p.m. U.S. central time (9:06 p.m. Greenwich time). This lunar phase brings your best time of the month to pause and review what’s happened since the new Moon in Capricorn January 16—before you rev up with the new Moon in Aquarius on February 15.
February 13 and 14: The Sun in a helpful angle with Uranus favors more joy, creativity, and romance. Enjoy Mardi Gras on the 13th and consider unusual plans for Valentine’s Day.
February 15: New Moon in Aquarius at 3:06 p.m. U.S. central time (9:06 p.m. Greenwich time)—with solar eclipse a few minutes before that—plus planetary harmony involving Mercury and Uranus as well as Venus and Saturn. The next week and a half supports new beginnings in everything related to your fifth house of children, creativity, and hobbies as well as investments in stocks and upgrading your portfolio.
February 17: The Sun meets Mercury, just before the messenger planet moves into Pisces at 10:29 p.m. U.S. central time (4:29 a.m. Greenwich time on the 18th). Take this final day of Aquarius to receive any last insights, hunches, or flashes of intuition before Mercury settles into Pisces’s foggy mist for a few weeks.
February 18: The Sun moves into Pisces at 11:19 a.m. (5:19 p.m. Greenwich time). Pause around that time and see if you can feel the shift from airy, intellectual Aquarius to watery, sensitive Pisces.
February 21: Your ruler, Venus, meets with Neptune in Pisces, a heavenly pairing of human and spiritual love. Be a force for loving kindness with everyone you meet.
February 25: Mercury meets Neptune, so let your mind wander a bit today and pay attention to dreams or connect with your muse. Also, the Sun links with Saturn in Capricorn: bring lofty dreams down to earth to benefit others in tangible ways.
February 27 and 28: Venus on the 27th and then Mercury on the 28th make the same helpful alignment with Pluto. Follow through on ideals from February 25 to bring spirituality, dreams, or artistic projects to earth in powerful yet practical ways that uplift everyone.
Happy February, Libra! I wish you a wonderful month!
